Note from the editor

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is the government of Métis people and communities in Ontario. This blog is an extension of the MNO, focused on the 2017 youth Canoe Expedition. The Expedition is the adventure of a life time, allowing twelve Métis youth aged 19–25 to travel the historic fur trading route of their ancestors — over 2000 km during an 86 day stretch. This blog highlights the highs and lows of the Expedition, as written by the Expedition members themselves. Read on to learn about day-to-day life in the canoe, on the road, and at camp as well as stories and teachings passed from community members, MNO Councillors, elders, and senators to our Expedition members as we stop along the way.
