Proven Productivity — The “Zero Day”

No, it doesn’t mean a weekly “day off”.

Instead, it means one day a week where you don’t “have” to Work — but you can Work.

P.S. By Work, I’m referring to 360° holistic work — income work, work(outs), inner work, family errands, studying, & upskilling work. So, Zero Days are applicable for 9-to-5ers too.

This has a 2-fold beauty:

  • The relief of being able to catch up, reflect, or de-compress if you’re lagging with (or don’t want to) Work.
  • The exciting chance to push ahead with extra/new work even if you’re on track.

Sunday is my Zero Day — but I usually use it for 1-Day Vipassana courses and coaching client calls. Rarely, I ditch it all — to take my family out.

Whether or not you actually use the Zero Day, just setting it can provide psychological relief — and counterintuitively, boost your overall productivity!

Excellence Epiphanies

#1 — Straight-7 > A Solo 10

The phrase “Jack Of All Trades” has a bad rap — but it’s such Jacks that live a truly fulfilling life…

Being a 7/10 in Everything beats being a 10/10 in 1 aspect and 3–5/10 in the rest.

P.S. By everything, I mean life’s fundamentals — relationships, health, happiness, spirituality, and wealth. You’re free to define what “Everything” means to you.

1STMAN has an excellent video on this (male-tailored but insightful for everyone).

This doesn’t mean simultaneously leveling up everything.

  • Instead, pick one.
  • Focus solely on it and level it up to your desired degree…
  • Then put it on “maintenance” — and pick another.
  • Rinse and repeat.

#2 — Invert The Way You Think Of Gratitude

We wait for blessings or good fortune/things — to express gratitude.

But Reality works the other way round!

The more you express gratitude, the more you’ll attract blessings! Your gratitude has to be genuine though — ulterior greedy motives won’t work.

No need to get fancy with this — all you need are 5 daily minutes and WhatsApp.

#3 — The Counterintuitivity Of Balance

Unlike what we think, balance isn’t a calm state of Zen bliss…

Yes, balance is that — but staying balanced is more of a balancing act.

Imagine a tightrope-walker — the “balance” results from constantly countering the imbalance! It’s a constant, aware effort — a dance of balance and counterbalance.

It’s the same in life.

You must move against and through imbalance to ensu(r)e balance.

Fitness Findings

Finding #1 — The One-Set Method

This is perfect when you’re in a hurry — or being choked by a busy schedule.

  • [Ideally] switch from UL/PPL/any_other_split to Full-Body 2–4x a week.
  • Choose only one exercise per muscle group — and only one set per exercise.
  • Build up to that one set with 2–3 ramping warmup sets.
  • Go all out on your One Set — push beyond failure with drop-sets, isometric rep-holds, and rest-pause sets.

Psychologically, having only one set to do makes you really push to failure — and give it your all.

I’ve gotten excellent results with it. Try it out and let me know how it goes.

Finding #2 — The Nutri-Prioritization Formula

We binge on sugar, relish carbs, fear the fats, ignore protein, and ditch our veggies…

But the actual prioritization formula is the reverse!

Greens & Veggies > Protein > Healthy Fats > Carbs > Sugar

For any day and any meal, this prioritization holds true.
