iPad Mini is a Gap Filling Device

How I’d use the new iPad Mini 6

The first-gen iPad Mini was my first iPad ever. I’d bought it when it launched in 2012, 9 years ago. The non-retina, sans-Touch ID version of it. It was the iPad I fell in love with — I was in my final year of engineering and all I used to carry was that iPad mini in my hand. Nothing else. It was a light little device I carried in one hand — the perfect mix of work and play. It was the ultimate flex.

That’s where my dream of having an iPad only set-up began.

I currently work off of a 12.9-inch iPad Pro from 2018 but the I have a soft spot for the Mini. I never sold that original Mini and it still works. It’s one of the only devices I have with an aux port. I use it to play Apple Music through an old pair of speakers that work with the aux cable. It’s slow, but it gets the job done.

When Apple updated the iPad Mini, bringing it up to the 2021 form factor and standard, I was overjoyed. And despite having an iPad Pro, I am considering getting a mini. For very particular use cases. What are they?
