iOS Developer Resources: Videos
When you like to learn by overlooking shoulders
So maybe podcasts aren’t enough for you, maybe you love seeing code, slides or even screencasts. Here are few resources of which I’ve used over the years.
If I’ve missed any of your favourite video resources, sound off in the comments below and I’ll be sure to add them to the list.
Comparing Swift with Objective-C
Lynda.com — Subscription
When I first decided to start moving my project’s codebase towards Swift, my first impression was to go to Lynda. The presenter is Simon Allardice, of which I first learned Objective-C through Lynda’s previous videos many, many years ago. If you’re thinking about making the jump, I cannot recommend Lynda’s videos highly enough.
Swift 2.0 Essential Training
Lynda.com — Subscription
I haven’t yet watched the full course material for this series, but I do have the most confidence in all of Lynda’s iOS/OSX videos. If you’re a visual learner like myself, you will enjoy the depth these videos give.
NSScreencast
NSScreencast.com — Subscription / Free
Ben Sheirman does weekly videos covering a whole range of topics related to iOS/OSX development. Video’s are short and concise enough to consume on your lunch break or commute to work.
Pomo.tv
Pomo.tv — Free
A new site dedicated entirely to videos about iOS, OSX development videos from around the world. Video’s can be filtered by conferences, speakers and even tags. This is definitely one for the bookmarks.
Stanford on iTunes U: Developing iOS 8 Apps with Swift
iTunes.Apple.com — Free
If you’re actually looking for a free course online, Stanford University usually holds a bunch of courses related to iOS development. Currently the latest they have is iOS 8, but if you’re new to iOS development it’s still a great resource and would recommend to at least give it a shot.
Ray Wenderlich
RayWenderlich.com — Subscription / Free
A popular tutorial site for iOS development, writer’s of Ray Wenderlich often upload video tutorials of various problems relating to development.
