This section explains the basic rules of battle.

Overview

  • MCS is a mind card game where 2 to 4 players play against each other in real time.
  • Each battle consists of three games. With a deck of 10 cards, you’ll play 3 consecutive games.
  • Each game, three cards are dealt randomly from the deck as a hand; once a card has been dealt it cannot be re-used in subsequent battles.
  • The winner of each game earns KP (or BP, depending on the battle type; the same applies below).
  • Winning and rank is determined by the total amount of KP earned during the three games.

Card

Card

Each card contains the following columns

Number

Each card has a number between 1~10.
A card’s rarity is determined by its number and explained below:

The higher your Number, the better you will score in the Final Count at the end of game
Your Number may increase or decrease depending on the results of Skills and Elemental Boost during the battle. (Increases and decreases are only temporary during that battle.)

Element

There are Three Elements: Fire, Water, and Leaf.
A strength-weakness relationship exists: Fire < Water < Leaf < Fire
This triangular relationship is used in the Elemental Boost at the end of Round 1 and Round 2.
In addition, the Light Element, which is temporarily generated only by skill effects, is a strong Element against all (Fire, Water, and Leaf).

Kami Type

The term “Kami” refers to the type of Kami. There are a total of 100 different types of Kami Cards.
There are three Elements (Fire, Water, and Leaf) for each Kami Type.
The Number is fixed for each Kami Type.

Ex) “Zeus” has the Number 10 for any Elements, Fire, Water, or Leaf.

Card Type
Refers to each card with its varying Element, such as Fire Zeus, Leaf Zeus, and Water Zeus.

Skills

These are special abilities that are set for each Card Type. They are activated during battle, and have various effects on the cards and the game situation.

KP (Kami-Power)

KP is the energy of the card. Its value is reduced by using it to Charge during battle, and is increased by winning battles.

Composition of one game

  • A game consists of “Pre-Round”, “Round 1” and “Round 2”.
  • At the beginning of the game, you are dealt 3 cards at random from your Deck of 10 cards.
  • In each round, you choose a card from your hand and play it.
  • The winner of the game is the player with the highest total Number of cards played in Round 1 and Round 2. (Final count)

Game Flow

Game Flow

Handout/Deal

At the start of the game, you are dealt 3 cards at random from your deck of 10 cards.

Pre-round

[Card Select]
Choose one card from your hand of three cards.
The Number of the card you played in the Pre-Round is invalid (not counted in the Final Count), but the skill is valid.
It is advisable to choose a card to play along with the cards used in Round 1 and Round 2.
The time limit for card selection is 30 seconds.

[Pre-charge]
Occurs in pre-round only.
A certain amount of KP (*) from the card used is used as a charge.
This used KP is stored into the Pool.
The value of Pre-Charge depends on the “Charge Regulation”. (10KP to 50KP)

[Skill Activation]
When cards are opened, skills of each card are automatically activated.
Skill activate with a variety of effects brought onto the field, changing Numbers or Elements.
(A player who choses to Escape, will not have their card opened.)

Round 1 / Round 2

[Card Select]
As in the Pre-Round, choose a card from your hand to play.
You have 30 seconds to choose a card from your hand, paying attention to the skill effects of the cards each player played in the previous round.

[Charge Action]
The Charge Action is a choice to continue the game or not.
The time limit is 10 seconds.
Depending on the action you choose, you may need to use KP from your cards.
If you choose to use a Charge Action, the KP you used will be stored in the pool.
For more information, please refer to “[Help]Battle: Charge Action”.

[Skill Activation]
Cards will be opened and the skill of each card will be activated automatically.

[Elemental Boost]
In Round 1 and Round 2, “Elemental Boost” is automatically performed after the skill is activated.
Elemental Boost alter the The Number on target cards, adding strength to the chosen card for that round.

<More details regarding Elemental Boosts on Numbers>
- The Fire Element beats the Leaf Element, the Leaf Element beats the Water Element, and the Water Element beats the Fire Element. (A three-way relationship)
- The Light Element (which is only manifested by skill effects) wins against all Fire, Water, and Leaf Element.
- The Number of the losing cards is added to the winner’s card.
If only three Elements exist at the same time (Fire, Water, and Leaf), it is treated as a “Tie” and no Number is added.

Final Count

This determines who wins and loses at the end of a battle.

[Number Tally]
Tally the Numbers of the cards played in Round 1 and Round 2, and the player with the highest total Number wins. The player with the highest total Number wins. If there is more than one player, all players are considered winners.

[KP tally]
The KP pooled for the game is distributed to each card used by the game winner.
For cards with less KP than the Full Charge, the allocation is adjusted according to the difference in KP used.

<Details of the distribution of KP earned to cards.>
(1): For all cards used in the game you win, you will be compensated with the amount of KP you used to charge for that game.
The remaining KP after subtracting (1) from the KP won is treated as “Victory Reward”.
(2): 8% of the “winnings” will be burned as “Play Charge” and 2% will be accumulated in the “Jackpot”.
(3) The remaining KP after subtracting (2) will be distributed to all the cards. The allocation ratio is set according to the “amount of charge KP used”. If there are too many, they are distributed in the order of Round 2 and Round 1.

Battle Rankings

After three games (one set), the battle is over, and the ranking of the battle is determined by the total KP earned in the three games.

Normally, one battle is completed in one set, but depending on the Official Cup regulations, there may be battles where multiple sets are used to determine the winner.
