One of the most inexplicable characteristics of God is His unending mercy. Humans, in our frailty and sinfulness, find it hard to fathom that any person can be so infinitely generous, so infinitely merciful. Indeed, we don’t have the capacity to be so.

Fresh

I just completed the migration of my blog over here to Medium. I plan on using this platform from here on out for a couple reasons.

First, I find the format a bit more visually appealing. I am no graphic designer, but I appreciate aesthetics as much as the next person.

Unrequited

I have a friend whom one could describe as being unlucky in love. I think I see the reasons for it; I’ve mentioned them to her before, but it tends to fall on deaf ears, usually because I fall into the same traps.

Mortification

St. Gregory the Great recounts a story about St. Benedict in his Life and Miracles of St. Benedict regarding Benedict’s being besieged with lustful thoughts while in seclusion. Determined to defeat them, he cast himself, naked, into a thorn bush and rolled around until his pleasure had turned to pain.

Memory

I just returned home from a week in the mountains, visiting family for the Fourth of July holiday. It was incredibly relaxing, and the cooler temperatures were a welcome respite from the muggy heat we’ve been afflicted with so far here at home. I was fortunate to spend some good quality time with my grandmother…

I’ll avoid the political or any other commentary here. Just pray for Charlie, his parents, all children, all those who our society feels have no worth, and our leaders.
