Greetings NuNetopians,

The first quarter of 2024 has been extremely eventful for NuNet. We released our new technical roadmap and updates, widened our participation in the broader DePIN landscape, restructured our core team, continued development on the Decentralized SPO use case, and held our first Community Town Hall. This article will provide more details on each of these milestones and links to expanded information.

Technical Updates and Roadmap

The development team has been working hard on refactoring new versions of the NuNet core components, including the DMS (device management service, SPD (service provider dashboard) and CPD (compute provider dashboard). These new versions are being released currently, and should be complete in the next few weeks for our community on Discord to test. More information about our development process can be found in this article.

We also released our technical roadmap this quarter. It provides estimates on the timeline of our development schedule in 2024, with the lead-up to the all-important mainnet release later this year. See the full article for all the details and accompanying visuals.

NuNet and the DePIN Narrative

One of the major emerging narratives among the decentralized technology landscape this cycle is that of DePIN, or “decentralized physical infrastructure networks.” As a decentralized cloud computing platform, NuNet aligns closely with this concept and is well equipped to provide the high degree of computing power that artificial intelligence will require. Read all about the advantages NuNet and DePIN can provide in our article.

NuNet Team Restructure

As NuNet advances towards our goals, the core team needs to change and adapt to better equip ourselves for new challenges. Among these changes, our CEO Kabir Veitas has also taken on the role of chief technology officer (CTO) to concentrate more on the technical development side of the team. To relieve some of the burden of the business side of Kabir’s role, Ilija Radeljic has stepped in as our chief operating officer (COO). Get to know Kabir, Ilija and our marketing lead Jennifer more by watching our recent AMA about the roadmap on NuNet’s Youtube channel, and be sure to check out our team restructure article as well.

Decentralized SPO Use Case Update

In February of 2022, NuNet won funding from Cardano’s Catalyst Fund 7 to develop the ability for stake pools operators (SPOs) to run their block producing nodes on NuNet provisioned hardware. Although the development of this use case has been on hold for some time, the team is now working diligently to complete it. You can read all about the progress and remaining challenges to this project in our recent article.

Community Town Hall

On Friday, March 29th, NuNet held our first Community Town Hall. More than 10 community members were in attendance. Unfortunately, the recording of the event could not be used due to audio issues, but the slideshow used in the presentation can be found here.
