Oasis 2021 Year in Review
It’s been a whirlwind of a year here at Oasis Network, and we’re very excited to share with you the highlights and accomplishments from 2021.

From launching our $160 million Oasis Ecosystem Fund to announcing Fortune 100 partnerships and the first AI ROSE NFT collection, 2021 has seen us become one of the fastest-growing developer networks in the industry, and according to Messari, the second most commonly held asset in crypto funds.
However, we couldn’t do this without you, our partners, developers, and community. So thank you for being part of our journey!
Technology & Engineering
2021 has been a busy year on the engineering front with significant milestones achieved. Completion of the network upgrade via on-chain governance had over 85% participation, and we launched:
- Cipher ParaTime live on MainNet — an all-in-one privacy-enabled ParaTime and one of the vital building blocks that will unlock the true potential of DeFi.
- Oasis Emerald live on MainNet — a fully decentralized ParaTime with full EVM compatibility that allows for easy integration with EVM-based DApps, such as DeFi, NFT, Metaverse, and crypto gaming, and a cross-chain bridge to enable cross-chain interoperability.
- Parcel SDK live on Beta — a privacy-first data governance SDK equipped with powerful privacy tools into an easy-to-use solution.
Oasis Ecosystem Fund
We launched the $160 million Oasis Ecosystem Fund, dedicated to supporting both new and existing projects to build on Oasis. The fund will help power the next wave of Oasis DeFi, NFT, Metaverse, and data tokenization dapps and is supported by top industry backers.
Fortune 100 Partnerships and more
We announced over 20 new partnerships in 2021 to add to our established partner ecosystem with companies including Nebula, Cryptosafe Alliance by Binance, BMW, and expect to forge many more in 2022.
Oasis Labs announced working on a project with Meta AI, formerly Facebook AI, on new advancements in secure computing technologies. More details will follow in 2022.
Other partnerships include Genetica, Asia’s fastest-growing genome sequencing company, and MetaMirror, whose MBuddy is the first-ever Web 3.0 identity service built for the metaverse. Both partners are leveraging the power of Parcel to offer better privacy and control to their customers’ most sensitive data.
The Launch of DeFi on Oasis
2021 has been a year of rapid growth for the Oasis DeFi Ecosystem! We announced the launch of an official Oasis ROSE wallet and a browser extension to allow for quick and easy access to your ROSE when you need it.
- Wormhole: Wormhole will facilitate cross-chain interoperability and enable Oasis to power more DeFi applications.
- YuzuSwap: YuzuSwap, the first Decentralized Exchange (DEX) built on Emerald, has some new features that we believe the Oasis community will love, including trade once mine forever and an auto-buyback price support system.
- WePiggy: WePiggy is a DeFi asset lending market open-source protocol. Lending is critical to the DeFi ecosystem and Oasis is thrilled to partner with WePiggy.
- Band Protocol: We chose Band Protocol’s scalable and decentralized Oracle solution for Emerald. The Band Standard Dataset infrastructure will give the ecosystem access to the largest data feed collection in the industry, which will equip Oasis developers to build fundamental layers of DeFi applications such as DEX and lending protocols.
- Amy.Finance: Amy.Finance is a community-driven DeFi asset lending protocol that helps users to earn safe and high yields. Amy.Finance is thrilled to join the Oasis DeFi ecosystem as one of the first lending protocols.
- ThetaNuts: ThetaNuts.Finance is a major DeFi derivatives protocol, using a hybrid DeFi model that will bring structured products to Emerald in the form of options strategies and, more importantly, DeFi 2.0. Along with the yield offered by native token incentives, ThetaNuts boasts one of the highest APY for ROSE.
- API3: This partnership brought off-chain data to projects building on the Oasis Network, and will allow Airnode data providers to supply data to projects building on Oasis.
Developers & Grants
Ever committed to supporting developers and projects to build on Oasis, alongside the $160 million Ecosystem Fund, we also announced several more programs to assist developers.
The ROSE Bloom Grants program is designed to help foster the growth of the Oasis ecosystem. A partnership with Sperax helped offer grants to women-led projects in the blockchain. We also partnered with MetaMind Labs to launch the $3.5 million Oasis-MetaMind Blockchain Accelerator and announced the development of an accelerator in partnership with DAppRadar. Finally, check out LaunchGarden, the 1st launchpad connecting the Oasis Community & Ecosystem!
We also hosted three hackathons during the year, resulting in over 24K new smart contracts deployed, almost 1K new DApps published, and over 6K developers participating.
NFTs arrive at the Oasis Network
- Hot on the heels of the MetaMirror partnership announcement, we introduced the Oasis AI ROSE NFT Collection contest. This is the first NFT collection supported by MetaMirror and minted on the Oasis platform and consists of 999 AI-generated images of roses, tokenized into NFTs, offered FOR FREE to members who make it onto the whitelist.
- NFTb: NFTb has created a platform for users to engage easily with DeFi and NFTs, and Oasis is the first chain NFTb is expanding to in their multi-chain vision. This integration will bring NFTb features to the Oasis Community, including 750+ verified creators and over 5000 curated NFTs.
- AkoinNFT: Alongside his planned auction of an NFT containing a “high-res artistic representation” of the genetic data of Professor George Church, a renowned biology researcher and the first human to have their genome sequenced, musician and blockchain entrepreneur, Akon, partnered with Oasis Parcel.
Community
With active communities in 24 countries, more than 160K community members, and over 310 Ambassadors, 2021 saw tremendous community growth, and we couldn’t be more grateful to you all. In China alone, we have over 50 Ambassadors and more than 30,000 members.
Our two inaugural community Town Hall events allowed us to provide you with network updates and give you a chance to meet us and ask questions.
In October 2021, Oasis Network won the “Privacy Computing and Blockchain Convergence Innovation Contribution Award” selected by Zero One Finance.
