My final results (post 4)
I’ve obtained the perfect shower time
I've finally reached my goal for the shortest shower time as the data found here illustrates. I beat the average American shower time of 8.2 minutes and water use of 17.2 gallons (65.1 liters). I succeeded thanks to my decision to shower every other day instead of daily and to decrease my shower time. I was so successful, I was able to reduce my shower time to a total of 5 minutes every other day (which is kind of like 2.5 minutes per day!). However, for the sake of cleanliness I will probably keep my shower time at 5 minutes and end it at that.
Overall I’ve saved 961.5 gallons by doing the project. If everyone in the world had my data we’d all save 7,115,100,000,000 gallons.
Even though my project is officially done I feel I learned a lot from my experiences and my records for the project. Maybe one day I’ll test whether it’s possible to decrease my shower time further. But as of now I reached my goal.
I will try to continue taking short showers whenever I remember. This project was challenging though not quite as challenging as being vegan. I’m happy I was able to make my mark these past few weeks on the class project and share Medium posts.
Here are the links to my past medium posts.
