The Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract surpassed $30 billion in value. The deposit contract allows users to migrate their funds from the Ethereum mainnet to the Beacon Chain, a parallel Proof-of-Stake network. Ethereum’s switch to Proof-of-Stake is tentatively scheduled in June 2022.

Congratulations to HydraDX on winning Polkadot’s 9th auction. HydraDX will be onboarded at block #9,388,800 [roughly March 11,2022] at the beginning of lease 7 with the other winners from auctions 6–11. Over 5.3K network stakeholders locked up DOT in favor!
The next Polkadot Parachain Slot Auction begins today at block 9_070_110 (approximately 20.00 CET).
After winning Kusama’s 24th auction, SORA will be onboarded as Kusama’s 26th parachain [24-auction winning parachains, plus Statemine & Encointer] at the start of lease 19.
Kico will be onboarded as Kusama 27th parachain.
New primitives for building Polkadot and Kusama’s next-generation governance has been merged into the Substrate code base
Polkadot v0.9.16 has been merged released, which includes breaking changes to the runtime. This is a HIGH priority upgrade, so if you’re running nodes, make sure to upgrade your runtime for Kusama before Feb 11th, and for Polkadot before Feb 18th.

Wormhole, a cross-blockchain bridge, suffered an exploit that allowed a hacker to steal 120,000 wrapped ETH on Solana, worth $326 million. This is the fourth-largest and DeFi’s largest heist of all time. Wormhole replenished the funds and the bridge is currently working, although the hacker hasn’t returned what it stole to the protocol.
