January blues. February blahs. Miserable March. Spring, I’m counting on you.

You so nailed it. Makes me think of the things I do fit into my day, non-negotiable, even when it’s hard. I’ve been working on headstand for over 15 years. Still not there, but I’m on the mat practicing just about every day. Maybe the trick is to frame writing as practice too: get out of my way and just show up, ass in chair. Just a different surface, after all.

Daniel Levitin explains mind-wandering in his book “The Organized Mind,” and shows how critical this neurological state is to our creativity and mental health. He also exposes multitasking for the creative drain and productivity-suck that it is. Worth the read, in between solid bouts of doing nothing, of course.
