A 21st Century Sonnet
I wish I lived with Shakespeare, with Sidney or with Wyatt,
So I could sit and spill my thoughts to sonnet after sonnet.
Kiss me before I forget that I am strong
You looked at me intently as I stuffed my suitcase full
They say that the moment you stop looking for love is when it finds you.
They say that if you hunt, you will always come up empty handed.
Three years ago we started,
This marathon crusade.
You promised to only teach me
About my passions along the way.
Poems for Insomnia
And then a new face caught the lightIt wasn’t superior to what yours had beenBut it was as if you had faded to shadeHardly vanished but merely thereAnd I can see oh how I can see
Sometimes I daydream about being held
I won’t stop,Nor will I wait, I shall continue on.
But one day I will come back,Just to check.
If you’re ready for me to love you yet.
