Another action-packed month has flown by! 🛸

Our team of devs and trip advisors were knee-deep in the lab cooking up a fresh batch of updates, product releases, and community initiatives. Notable existing product updates include the Plug Android App, ICNS domain persistence, and Sonic’s newly added token.

There were also a few first-timers to Psychedelic, including our announcement of Daowabunga, an extendable web3 DAO framework we’re currently BUIDLing, and our Psychedelic TownHall initiative.

Keep reading for a summary of what we have been up to in the last month.

Plug now Live on PlayStore

We cracked July open with the official release of the Plug Android App. Long-awaited after the initial Plug iOS release, the Android version replicates all core functionalities of the browser extension, including all NFT-related ones.

  • Users can hold, send, and view Internet Computer Tokens & NFTs directly in-app, as well as save and use contacts in an address book, view transactions in the activity tab, and log in via FaceID or TouchID.
  • Download the app here and leave your feedback with our trip advisors on our Discord

Moving forward, new Plug Mobile releases will be platform agnostic, meaning that you will not get specific updates for iOS or Android — both will be updated in tandem as one platform: Plug Mobile.

For more information about the official release, read our latest blog.

Town Hall Series

In July, we introduced the Psychedelic Town Hall, a biweekly meet where we present the latest developments and spur intelligent conversation to move our community forward.

We’ve been blown away by the community support and sheer amount of conversations sparked through TownHall 01 & 02 — both averaged close to 100 live listeners and thousands of non-live plays.

  • Town Hall 01: Based on our wish list for the Internet Computer, we presented an objective outlook on the current IC ecosystem and the community’s role in taking the network to the next level.
  • Town Hall 02: We brought out DFINITY CTO, Jan Camenisch to a dialogue around the Foundation’s objectives and the development direction of the Internet Computer. We also presented a proposal for changes to the DIP20 fungible token standard based on feedback from TownHall 01.

Daowabunga — Secret’s Out

We wrapped the month by unveiling the vision for Daowabunga, a new extendable web3 DAO framework built on the IC. Teased for several months now, Daowabunga is imagined as a solution to help communities, dApps, and protocols manage the execution and control of all smart contracts, assets, and infrastructure in a decentralized way.

  • The framework will leverage the IC’s outbound HTTP calls, threshold signatures, and native integration capabilities to become a true cross-chain orchestration solution.
  • It will feature separate modules, called toppings, which communities can choose to integrate with for a tailored DAO experience.

For an extended look into our vision, read our latest blog.

Sonic Adds $BOX

After adding $OGY swaps to Sonic in May, July came around with a fresh un$BOXing session.

As a collection of 10k breedable and collectible NFTs living on the IC, Boxy Dude launched their $BOX token to enable governance and in-game breeding. Players could use the token to purchase assets from the marketplace or the in-game store, mint new BOXY NFTs, and stake or borrow them.

The token started trading as the second non-native token on Sonic and is tied to an airdrop allocation schedule based on the number of BOXY Dudes and Girls held in one’s Plug Wallet.

  • Users can swap for $BOX on Sonic under the $WICP/$BOX pair.
  • They can also provide liquidity through the Liquidity tab.

For more details on Sonic’s $BOX token launch, read the blog here.

ICNS Persistant Domains

Instead of simply redirecting, ICNS domains now persist when pointed to an asset canister URL. Any new paths added to the domain (ex: ICNSname.icp.xyz) will also translate when resolving the underlying URL.

Before

Input: ICNSname.icp.xyz → After Redirection: canisterID.ic0.app

After

Input: ICNSname.icp.xyz → Domain Persisted: ICNSname.icp.xyz

For a step-by-step guide on setting your ICNS domain, read our latest blog.

That’s all for today! We’ll see you back in September for another trip report 🍄
