London’s Calling is Packed with A Lot of Great Sessions, Here’s Twelve

London’s Calling banner image … taken from Eventbrite Ticket Page.

London’s Calling 2022 is right around the corner. In fact it’s happening one week from today at The Brewery right in the heart of London. The last two years has seen this great event be limited to a purely virtual experience, this year though it is back to being an in-person event. It will no doubt be a great experience. I will be heading down to this event as not only an employee of platinum sponsor, Cloud Galacticos, but as a first-time speaker at the event.

In this blog what I would like to is offer out my list of recommended sessions for this event. Like with my post for Czech Dreamin’, please don’t treat this as a definitive list, but a subjective list on my understanding of the content and my opinions of their related content. This time around the list is going to be a little different. Rather than including all of the sessions I want to highlight (seventeen in all) in one list, I will be splitting the list into two individual posts. One list will focus on all of the sessions relating to Flow and Process Automation, the other list (this list) will include all of the other sessions that I want to highlight at the event. With that all being said, shall we dive in?

Recommended Sessions at London’s Calling

In part one of my list of recommended sessions at the event, we have a grand total of twelve sessions to highlight. The sessions in this list cover a range of topics and career paths. I’m sure you’ll find something in this list that matches well with where you are currently at in your journey in the ecosystem.

“Work Smarter, Not Harder!” — A Guide to Top Tools for all Trailblazers

Every Salesforce professional needs a good group of tools and resources that they can use to help them complete their work and boost their productivity. This session will see Salesforce Consultant, Lee Palmer, demonstrate a range of tools and techniques that will no help you to work smarter, not harder.

5 Steps to Deliver an Awesome Demo

Next up is a session being delivered by my Automation Dreamin’ co-founder, Vicki Moritz-Henry. In this session Vicki will highlight five key steps to help you as a Salesforce professional to deliver top-quality demos that will make your managers and stakeholders very happy. We all have to deliver demos, so I have absolutely no doubt that this session will be extremely helpful to you.

Everything You Need To Know About Dynamic Forms

If you read my blog on the Czech Dreamin’ event you will have heard my pitch about this session already. In this session Christine Marshall will introduce you to one of the features in Salesforce that I personally feel has the most potential, Dynamic Forms. You’ll see a demo of how to implement and set up Dynamic Forms in your org as well as have the chance to hear the answers to some of the most asked questions relating to Dynamic Forms. With Dynamic Forms due to roll out to some Standard Objects in Winter ’23, there has never been a better time to learn how to implement and use Dynamic Forms.

The Superpower of Visuals

Ines Garcia is very well-known to the Trailblazer for her contributions on the topics of Agile, Mentorship and Tableau CRM, just to name a few. Here in this session, Ines will go over the importance of using visuals at work, how we as Salesforce professionals can use visuals and highlight some great tools for it.

Get the Most from Mentoring — A Perspective from a Salesforce Mentee and a Mentor

Mentorship is a hugely important thing in the Salesforce ecosystem. For many of us, mentorship has helped us progress in our careers. Helping us to set aims and aspirations for ourselves, prepare resumes and build interview skills, and to even connect with other people who specialise in the areas that interest us. In this session, Nathaniel Sombu and Silvia Denaro will take us through this all important topic, covering it from the perspective of a mentee and mentor. If you’re new to the ecosystem, this session could be just what you need.

Designing for Better Outcomes

Design has been a huge topic in the Trailblazer Community, particularly over this last year or so with the rollout of the User Experience Designer credential and the newly launched Strategy Designer credential. In this session, one of my favourite people in the ecosystem and Salesforce MVP, Melissa Hill-Dees will take us through the concept of consequence scanning. Here you will get to learn a lot about this important tool of the trade in User Experience Design.

Staying Mentally Fit as a Salesforce Consultant

Mental Health is a very important topic to say the least. This is also true in the Salesforce ecosystem. In this session, Safiyyah Gareeboo will raise the topic of staying mentally fit while working as a Salesforce Consultant. Safiyyah will share with us tools and resources as well the findings from a survey being done ahead of the event relating to consultancy and mental health. As a qualified mental health first aider myself, I can certainly attest to the quality of some of the resources that may be shared in this session and the topic itself.

N.B. You can complete the survey for yourself by following this link.

Getting the Job — Tips and Tricks for Salesforce Interviews and Careers

So just to let everyone in on a little secret, I don’t like job interviews. I find job interviews to be a nerve-wrecking exercise to say the very, very least. But, job interviews are a necessary evil in this world, and for many of us out there, we’d like all the help we can get. Well if you’re at London’s Calling and you’re looking for some great tips for interviews, then let me encourage you to check out this session from Paul Battisson. Paul has interviewed many applicants across a number of different roles in the Salesforce ecosystem for many years. And if you needed anyone to vouch for Paul as an interviewer … well, Paul interviewed me for my role at Cloud Galacticos and is one of my bosses.

Design in the Wild! A Look at Salesforce Designers in Their Natural Habitat

Design is a big popular topic right now in the Salesforce ecosystem. With the User Experience Designer certification coming out in 2021 as well as the new Strategy Designer certification which launched back in May, there has never been a higher need (or demand) to talk about design best practices around the Salesforce platform. In this you will get to meet two Salesforce Designers who are working in the ecosystem right now, you’ll hear from Angela Conway and Katka Vokrinkova about what’s like to be real-life Salesforce Designers. And as a quick bonus, Angela was part of the team that wrote the UX Designer cert and is a member of both my User Group and the Newcastle WIT group.

Getting Past Imposter Syndrome With a Growth Mindset

Imposter Syndrome! We all feel it from time-to-time … I know I do (check out my very typo-heavy blog on that for more). It is certainly true that it can be very difficult to deal with Imposter Syndrome, but it can be done. In this session, Leon Crisp will give us some pointers for how we can overcome this challenge by cultivating a growth mindset in and around what we do.

Start Building Slack Apps for Salesforce Now, and what the Future Holds

I can wholeheartedly say with certainty that Slack is the future. This is why Salesforce Professionals should be considering how they can build and utilise Slack apps in their work. This session was also on my list for sessions to check out at CzechDreamin (as was Christine Marshall’s session), however I did miss this session at the event so hopefully this will be one that I get to go to this time around. In it, Todd Halfpenny will cover a number of topics related to building Slack apps. Including architecture and implementation, along with other key points to consider. This is a session that I would highly recommend.

Diagramming Salesforce Solutions

Last but by certainly no means least on this list, we have Matthew Morris’ session on Diagramming Salesforce Solutions. Diagramming is an important skill to have in the Salesforce ecosystem. In this session, Matt will show us how to use diagrams in order to make a good impression with executives and stakeholders as well as extracting good requirements along the way. There will also be examples of Salesforce tools and templates that you can use.

Closing Comments

So that’s my list … well, technically half of my list. Check back on Monday with my list of Flow sessions that I feel are worth checking out (spoiler alert, it’s all of them). How about you? Are there any sessions that I didn’t have on this list that you feel would be good to check out? Let me know what you are looking forward to checking out at London’s Calling. If you are going, I’d love to meet you as well. I’ll be around Thursday to Saturday, so drop me a DM if you’d like to catch-up and say hi. I’m sure it will be a great event overall.
