I have never been a social butterfly. I never loved to be in the light and the eye of everyone around me. Being a shy kid, I never learned to socialise. Dancing is a form of getting attention. At least, it’s what I have thought for years.

Here and again, I started socialising a bit while I was in 11th grade. 11th and 12th is the most memorable time of my student life to date. I was a little more outgoing than I had ever been. I made friends. I used to dance at the school programme.

I loved it. After school, I never made those close friends and it ended there. I have no idea when, but I started playing music and dancing to the beat at home around my family along with doing house chores.

I just noticed it a few weeks ago. That was the day, I planned on doing at least 5 minute dance every day this year. If I couldn’t do that 5 minute dance one day. I will do, 1o minute the next day and it will keep on happening if I ever miss a day.

List of reasons why I dance and why should you too

  1. Dancing brings out the inner child in you. It makes her happy.
  2. Dance reduces stress and gives you some fun time even if you have a hectic day.
  3. Dance moves release muscle tension and make you feel fresh and alive.
  4. Dance fosters the connection between mind, body and soul and helps you become mindful and aware of your body sensations.
  5. Dancing regularly will maintain your health and well-being, especially provide aid in cardiovascular health, and blood circulation and prevent you from heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis etc. It improves flexibility, balance coordination among muscle groups and overall fitness.
  6. It improves your sleep quality and patterns.
  7. Learning different dance moves will help you to explore various cultures around the world.
  8. I was a shy kid. Dancing gives confidence, self-esteem and a positive self-image. Dance, even if you think that you are not dancing well with confidence. You will build it anyway over time.
  9. Dance is a form of expression. Through dance, you will learn to express yourself creatively with beautiful body moves.
  10. Dance is also found to improve the cognitive function in human beings including improvement of memory function and mental sharpness.
  11. If you learn to dance, you will learn to make new friends, develop a new community and socialize like a pro. I got the confidence through dancing. It doesn’t happen every time and everywhere. I can recall the time I danced and made friends and vice versa.
  12. Dance boosts your energy. It makes you active and open to taking a chance to interact and find a new best friend.
  13. Dance maintains good postures and body alignment.
  14. It helps in burning calories, promoting weight management and promoting a healthy body composition.

These are all the reasons that you should start dancing. If you can’t take time to dance, dance to your trip to the washroom, or kitchen. Dance while cooking.
