Hi there! Who are you and what’s your job? ✌️
Target Reply is a company of Reply group focused on data and analytics. Every day, our challenge is to discover and experiment with new technologies and solutions in these fields.
We are Carlo — Manager — and Giuliano — Consultant. Carlo is working at Target Reply since 2009, having started as a Junior Consultant. Giuliano joined the group about two years ago, being captivated by our amazing case studies for several customers in each industry.
You had a speech at the Xchange: what was the topic?
At the Xchange18 we had a speech about Digital Twins applied to smart environments.
Digital twins are a digital copy of an asset, be it a physical product or a process.
This technology is considered a hot trend for the next years, due to the enormous adoption of IoT devices. Leveraging Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, they are able to predict events and react to them.
Fantastic! But how did you get to know this topic first?
We approached Digital Twins a few months ago during a tender for a German consortium. The theme gained our interest, leading us to invest a lot of time researching, learning and participating at conferences and training events.
We think this is the best approach to embrace a new technology!
Sure thing! 💪 And how did you feel while preparing your speech at the Xchange?
The Xchange is an incredible experience that captured us a lot of weeks before, in order to think about the focus of the speech, the technical level, the abstract and the presentation.
The days immediately before the speech are the most frenetic ones: dry runs, technical proofs, last modifications, stress (of course) and a HUGE amount of fun! 😄
It is a long wonderful marathon, that takes time but gives you something incredible in return.
How did Reply support your research?

By 2021, half of the large industrial companies will use Digital Twins, resulting in those organizations gaining a 10% improvement in effectiveness.
Your tip for a student…
Everything starts with curiosity and, at the same time, you cannot be curious about everything. Being curious about one of the Gartner’s Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends…it is more than an advice 😉.
Even though there are not so many books around, the web is full of materials: web articles, whitepapers and, of course, lots of videos.
