At 3AM. 
I saw your tea
Still sitting there 
And thought of you.
All its warmth gone, 
But remembering the warmth of your friendly company 
And slow smile 
And the small sliver of childhood we share.

And motion even less so.
Going nowhere for no reason.

Books and bullets,
Cast shadows. 
The children we rear 
Austere or rebellious
Raise their own hands,
Make their own craft,
Rear their own kind, 
And ever on.

grape gum

Love is sharing your last piece of grape gum
Giving it away,
Watching as it pops behind their lips.
Lovely lips,
Soft as sand dunes
And doubly precious,
Their feeling full, friendly, and familiar.
Even with the grapey smell
Breathtakingly beautiful
And altogether all you want
And need.
Who needs gum?
Well…

Stop mocking me, you stupid, blank page.

I know. 
I can’t fill you like you want.
Like I want.

I know how you feel. 
Empty.
Blank.
Full of potential, 
Yet simultaneously purposeless and alone.

stepping stones

I want to be a stepping stone for others. 
Be the firm place in this rat race

Be the safe space
