Love is important in relationships, there’s no doubt about that. But if couples aren’t also feeling lust, no matter how long they’ve been together, it can significantly decrease relationship satisfaction.

A survey of 2,000 people in committed relationships done by K-Y showed that while 97 percent believe it was important to show love in a relationship, 96 percent say it’s also extremely important to have intimacy. Unfortunately, 20 percent of people admit that having sex with their partner has been either a low priority for them, or not a priority at all.

But they don’t want to keep it that way. For those who have been in a relationship for at least five years, 29 percent of them say they need more physical intimacy with their partner.
