Does your partner spend time in bed scrolling through social media to find out if they have new likes and comments? Do you while away the wee hours in bed playing games or checking sports scores? If this scenario plays out in your bedroom, chances are, your sex life is suffering for it.

And you’re far from alone.

According to a study of 2,000 people conducted by Asurion, 25 percent say the last thing they look at every night when they go to sleep is their cell phone, rather than their partner. In fact, respondents with this habit admitted that they spend their last 40 waking minutes on their devices, and are twice as likely to do something on their phones while in bed as they are to use that time to bond with their partner. In addition, they spend on average three nights each week staring at separate screens while in bed together.

Not surprisingly, they’re not having as much sex as they could be, with 35 percent of study participants saying they’re having trouble in their sex lives — which researchers say is an extension of how mobile phones have changed the way we communicate with one another.
