The Maya Angelou quote warns us, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” When it comes to the sexual pleasure of women, one study shows that this definitely holds true in relationships. This is because, according to research in Sex Roles, once a sexual partner shows a woman that they suck in the sack, she’s more likely to believe them and expect more of the same during future encounters. In fact, researchers found that bad sexual experiences lower expectations so much that women begin to stop caring if they even have an orgasm with their partner because the stage has been set not to anticipate one.

“Our expectations are shaped by our experiences, so when women orgasm less, they will desire and expect to orgasm less.”

During a study of 104 sexually active couples, respondents were asked how often they climax during sex, how often they would ideally like to orgasm, and how often they expect that their partners will bring them to climax.
