When the mood strikes, couples will give in to their lust no matter what time it may be. But what times are most common for the sexual mood to strike?

To find out the most common times people have sex, sex toy company Adam & Eve asked over 1,000 people what their preferences are, and these were the results:

  • Late nights (20 percent)
  • Mornings (10 percent)
  • Afternoons (8 percent)

Although late nights are the most common time for couples to have sex, Adam & Eve’s resident sexologist Dr. Jenni Skyler says that switching things up can help us take advantage of our natural body rhythms.

“Nights tend to be easier for working partners, especially if you have kids and need to wait until after bedtime,” said Skyler. “However, I suggest couples do all they can to have sex during daylight hours. Humans are diurnal mammals, versus nocturnal, so we have far more energy when the sun is up. Our hormones are also working in our favor versus being depleted by the end of day.”
