Siglo aims to build a digitally and financially inclusive mobile ecosystem that will enable consumers in emerging markets to seamlessly enter and participate in the digital economy. Its protocol solves the two biggest problems facing these consumers: cost of data usage and lack of access to a bank. Siglo was inspired by the success of Pig.gi, an Android lock screen app that’s awarded more than 45 million coins worth of mobile airtime top ups to one million users in Mexico and Colombia. The Siglo protocol will enable the development of decentralized applications that leverage mobile airtime as a unit of value for exchange.
