iOS 16

iOS 16 brings major changes across the system, including “new ways of interacting” and “some fresh Apple apps”; let’s take a closer look at iOS 16.

1. Lock Screen

With all-new Lock Screen customization options in iOS16, you can totally transform your iPhone. Display your favorite photographs, modify the font styles, and display a variety of widgets for rapid information access.

Apple

Widgets on the Lock Screen allow you to easily peek at data from your favourite apps, such as the weather, calendar events, date, time zones, alarms, battery level, activity ring progress, and more.

2. Notification

Apple

On the Lock Screen, you can display alerts in an extended list view, stacked view, or concealed view. Notifications are also displayed at the bottom of the screen, so they are not in the way.

3. Focus

In iOS 16, focus now has a more streamlined configuration that allows you to choose the apps and people you wish to get notifications from by simply permitting or disabling them. Connect your Lock Screen to your Focus to make your iPhone’s look and feel match how you want to use it right now. You can switch from Personal Focus to Work Focus with a swipe, including widgets displaying upcoming meetings and to-do lists.

Apple

By hiding distracting items in Apple apps like Calendar and Messages, as well as third-party apps, focus filters help you set boundaries. When utilizing Personal Focus, you can keep emails from your work inbox hidden.

4. Maps

In Maps, multi-stop routing helps you plan many stops along your journey or use recent to retrieve prior routes quickly. Maps also sync between devices, so you can check instructions on your Mac and then view them on your iPhone when you’re ready to leave.

Apple

5. Health App Upgrade

The new prescriptions tool in the Health app makes it easier to keep track of, manage, and understand your medications. You may also invite loved ones to share their information stored in the Health app to help you stay connected on what matters most.

The health app sends notifications when you add a new medication or if there is a critical interaction or side effects of medications. You can review critical, serious, and moderate interactions.

6. Fitness app for iPhone

Yay!! Finally, you can track and meet your fitness goals, even if you don’t have an Apple Watch. Your steps, distance, and third-party exercises will now offer you an estimate of your calories to contribute to your daily Move target by utilizing iPhone’s motion sensors.

Apple

7. Spotlight

In iOS 16, just like macOS, you can get intelligent suggestions, expanded rich results, and even more image results from apps like Messages, Notes, and Files by using Spotlight, right from the Home Screen. You may also use Spotlight to perform tasks such as setting a timer or launching a shortcut.

8. Apple Pay and Wallet

Introducing Apple Pay Later, i.e., the total cost of your purchase will be divided into four equal payments over the course of six weeks. You will never have to pay any fees or interest. Apple Pay Later is integrated into Wallet and can be used anywhere Apple Pay is accepted online or in apps.

9. Developer Mode

In iOS 16, Apple released a new feature called Developer Mode. Developer Mode in iOS 16 and Xcode 14 focuses on scenarios such as building and running code in Xcode or installing a .ipa file with Apple Configurator. When enabled, it protects people from inadvertently installing potentially harmful software on their devices and reduces attacks exposed by developer-only functionality.
