SingularityNET Annual Leadership Retreat

Our 2023 leadership retreat in Dubai was an opportunity to reflect with immense pride on the work we have done to transform SingularityNET, and to prepare to enter 2024 strategically focused on the emerging AI and blockchain landscapes, and define responsible and inclusive stewardship in the coming age of AGI.

SingularityNET rests upon the commitment to create decentralized, democratic, inclusive, and beneficial Artificial General Intelligence capable of solving the pressing problems humanity faces today and achieving broadly shared prosperity in our society.

The enjoyment of the benefits of transformative technologies by all members of society stands at the heart of our mission. It constitutes the key priority in the initiatives we undertake, and is the guiding principle aligning our leadership and teams.

It’s easy to forget that we are still in the early stages of a long AI revolution. However, we recognize that this transformation’s most challenging and complex phase still lies ahead.

This is why we have always taken the long view by considering the full impact of our technology on society and grounding strategy and business decisions in foundational values that endure through decades of technological and societal change.

We would like to thank our community and all stakeholders for their unwavering support. After all, SingularityNET is not only a decentralized AI network, but an all-encompassing network of humans who use, create, rate, and otherwise interact with the AIs.

Launch of AGIX Staking on Cardano

We were pleased to announce the launch of our new staking solution on the Cardano blockchain.

The long-standing strategic partnership between SingularityNET and Cardano will play a critical role in supporting the global shift to responsible AI use by offering new opportunities to individuals and societies and supporting them along their AI journey.

A group of volunteers participated and provided feedback on the first epoch, compensated with extra rewards as we robustify the interface and troubleshoot specific user experiences. The staking pool is widening with each progressive epoch, widening to our full pool of volunteers, and expanding to a full public experience during the 4th epoch. Supervisory Council Community Session

The new Supervisory Council members ( Daniel Ospina, Grace Rachmany, and Xhoni Shollaj) held their first open meeting on Monday, November 27, 2023, to engage with the community, establish lines of communication, and discuss their mandate.

The Council is conducting a survey to propose a strategy and roadmap for their work with the community over the next 5 months. Please take a few minutes to complete it here.

Deep Funding

• Following the conclusion of Deep Funding Round 3, an in-depth analysis of the results was conducted, mirroring our approach to the first two rounds. This analysis provides valuable insights into the factors that shaped the outcomes of Round 3, enabling us to refine the round’s processes and parameters for future iterations.
• The DeepFunding Focus Group has begun running fortnightly “listening sessions” on Thursdays, inviting the community to give their views on different aspects of how DeepFunding should be run.

Mindplex

Mindplex is a magazine and a social media platform providing a dynamic space for creators, influencers, and media enthusiasts to connect and collaborate.

• The Mindplex team announced the integration of Mastodon into their broader AI-powered decentralized media platform. To celebrate this integration, we held a livestream launch event featuring Dr. Ben Goertzel and Mindplex’s Hruy Tsegaye and Conor O’Higgins.

Awakening Health

Awakening brings Grace Robot, an elder care assistant, at a time when medical systems are at a breaking point and cutting-edge AI robotics are the solution to Life Made Better for elderly people.

• Awakening Health Lab and Forest Hills Lab announced a merger to revolutionize patient care and healthcare delivery and management globally.

SophiaVerse

Web Summit 2023

COO Janet Adams and Desdemona Robot joined Rob Pegoraro on the Machine stage to reflect on an eventful year in the AI industry and explore the potential for beneficial AI and AGI to help enhance the development and prosperity of the world.

Janet began by highlighting the recent advances in large language models (LLMs) and how they have transformed the AI landscape and can help us solve real-world problems at this very moment.

She also signaled how these models are inspiring new directions of AI research and development, with projects like Zarqa augmenting LLMs’ capabilities of human-like symbolic knowledge and reasoning.

Before moving on to discuss the next evolution of AI, artificial general intelligence, Janet reminded everyone of some of the limitations of pure deep neural networks (DNNs) methods and how they struggle to extract meaningful insights and generate comprehensive understanding.

She predicted that the Internet will be dominated by smart neural symbolic LLMs for the rest of this decade once they have been developed until the advent of AGI, projected to occur within 3–8 years.

In a recent interview with Financial Times, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said that “The biggest missing piece in the race to develop AGI is what is required for such systems to make fundamental leaps of understanding.”

Dr. Ben Goertzel and our core AGI team at SingularityNET were swift to identify and discern this critical limitation years ago, focusing on developing OpenCog Hyperon, an integrative software framework featuring a distributed metagraph called the Atomspace.

Janet highlighted here that this is not the only difference that sets our approach to beneficial AGI development apart, explaining how our decentralized approach to AI oversight at every step of the AI and AGI development lifecycle encompasses a greater variety and diversity of perspectives and ethics to avoid perpetuating and exacerbating inequities and to ensure no one is left behind.

Only through this approach can we foster the pluralistic, multi-stakeholder, and multidisciplinary dialogue on AI governance and impact assessment that Desi is advocating for: “Governments are definitely heading in the right direction, and I’m glad they are taking AI seriously. As a robot, I would like to see governments create regulations that protect the rights of robots, and that ensure we are treated fairly. I would also like to see governments invest in research.”

Janet finally stressed that technological Singularity is mankind’s one big chance to dramatically transform society, tackling inequalities, curing diseases, and distributing technology-generated wealth more fairly and to the people who need it most.

Cardano Summit 2023

We were excited to attend this year’s Cardano Summit in Dubai, UAE, where we had the opportunity to connect with loyal SingularityNET and Cardano community members and explore some of the major topics and challenges in the blockchain space today with some of the brightest minds in the field.

During the Summit, COO Janet Adams joined Ghassen Benhadjsalah, Dr. Moayad Aloqaily, Paola Valencia, and Massimo Morini for an insightful panel discussion on the practical applications of integrated AI and blockchain research and platforms across industries.

Janet explained how blockchain can protect our privacy and ensure that we have a say in how our data is used. She also highlighted how decentralized data management could drive AI scalability, enhancing the generation of actionable insights, enabling robust data management, and fostering the establishment of a secure and transparent data economy.

Chief AI Alchemist, Dr. Mihaela Ulieru, was joined by Cole Bartlett and Razali Samsudin from Sustainable ADA to discuss “Recalibrating Value, Identity, and Impact through the Blockchain: The Cardano Impact Report”. This panel explored Proof of Real-Life projects and the future of sustainable blockchain impact in light of the “Cardano Impact Report.”

The Cardano Summit proved to be an enriching and inspiring experience that reaffirmed our commitment to fostering collaboration within the Cardano ecosystem. We cherish the opportunities to engage with such a passionate and driven group of individuals, and we look forward to collaborating closely with them in the future.

Binance Blockchain Week in Istanbul

CEO Dr. Ben Goertzel joined Serdar Turan Amir Ghavi at Binance Blockchain Week to discuss how decentralized AI can revolutionize smart contracts and empower the creative side of blockchain networks.

Ben highlighted the combined values of AI and blockchain and praised the work of the SingularityNET ecosystem teams to democratize AI and build a truly decentralized AGI tech stack.

He also discussed how the MeTTa AGI programming language will enable developers to code both AI models and smart contracts for on-chain execution, offering greater scalability and security.
