A reflection on our first days as a publication and a meditation on those to come.
A scorching welcome to you, “Sundays” Journal readers.
Arrive on time or in your own time and take a seat, or stand or recline or swing from the the beams or just dance.
However you find yourself finding us, we are enamoured and honoured to share your time and attention.
These are exciting first days for us as a new publication. Having been torn from the frequent thrills of live performance in alive Los Angeles and then experimenting in human reach through the technological realms of interactive Zoom shows, finding a grounded home for the written and spoken word, thrown up amongst the stars and reaching those who actively seek poetry… or zestfully happen upon it, has felt like something of a prehistoric discovery of the far future for us.
Our sundry community of poets are still gradually clambering aboard but to take a look back on what we’ve shared with you so far feels incredibly fuelling.
We began with a few pieces dabbling on the history of “Sundays” from our founder Joseph Matick, myself and Brent L. Smith, who both performed readings in the very first “Sundays” live event and who have been an integral part of its journey:
A Short History on “Sundays” by Jasmine Poulton
SUNDAYS FOREVER LIVE by Brent L. Smith
“Manifesto I” 11.28.2018 by Joseph Matick
And then on to the poetry.
Some of these will be brand new and some will be pieces written for or read live at “Sundays” of past. For all we hope to share as much audio as we can along with the writing.
Acid Vegas ’13 by Brent L. Smith
The Creatures That Don’t Know by Jasmine Poulton
Hollywood Forever by Brent L. Smith
Writers Block by Jasmine Poulton
God Is A Painter by Jenna Putnam
Graveyard Earth by Brent L. Smith
I thank you again for your participation in this young and naive endeavour. We have a roster full of fresh players coming your way during this next week. Please continue to read, applaud, share and question however you see just.
In dreams,
Jasmine (on behalf of “Sundays”).
