Note from the editor

Welcome to Sustainabilty @DePaul, a collection of stories from the DePaul community. Here, student voices lead the way, writing profiles and commentary that balance hope and despair in a time of climate change as we shine a light on the individual and structural change that inspire us here in Chicago and at DePaul. In accordance with our university mission, sustainability is no less important than our current social and environmental justice, antiracism, and equity work. We envision an integral ecology that encompasses the environment, society, politics, culture, everyday life and the world of the spirit. Here, we explore the call to humanity to attend to our ecological crisis, especially the catastrophic problems caused by climate change and their differential impacts on the poor and underserved. Crossing disciplines, we draw on methods cultivated through the Humanities to tell the stories of our local changemakers and the greater paradigm shifts underway.
