Well, it’s the last newsletter for the 2022 Southern Hemisphere Winter and Northern Hemisphere Summer. Whether you’re heading into Autumn or Spring, there’s lots to love about a change of season! I can’t wait to see everyone’s adventures over the next month, but now it’s time to reflect on the month that was August 2022.

Writing prompts never expire here, so feel free to write to old ones or new!

If you’re a writer who published recently, you may have noticed me adding you to lists. This is my way of getting organised for the newsletter. As I publish I simply pop your story into the category I think fits it best and then I can use the list to select the feature for the month.

I’ve also updated the landing pages finally! You may notice that the July-September Landing page has a new format. It’s all compiled in lists to make it easier for me to keep it all up to date!

If you’re a subscriber, thank you for your support!

Do you have some feedback or a suggestion for Tea with Mother Nature?

Please comment on this newsletter or email teawithmothernature@gmail.com

Each month we send out a Feature newsletter (week 1) on the previous month’s stories and a Statistics newsletter (Week 3) examining the best performing stories and the overall performance of the publication.

In January, Tea with Mother Nature also started a Facebook page and a Facebook group to allow greater exposure and an easy way to communicate. Please join us!

Here’s my selection of must-read articles from August 2022!

August yielded some beautiful stories for this section. It was quite a job to choose, but this story from a writer new to the publication really captured my imagination!

I hope you enjoy Mani Goel’s Rendezvous with River Folks as much as I did! If you do, be sure to follow Mani so that we can get her over the 100 follower mark!

I would hold my tea cup, and sit next to the river, absorbing the morning breeze and grateful for these moments…

Was this the story that you would have chosen? Tell us in the comments!

Ivy Shepherd gave us Five ways to be mindful when gardening this month and it’s a great reminder for those of us that find gardening essential to our wellbeing.

And once we can master these mindful practices when we garden, we can then start to use them in our every day lives. We can continue our practices of mindfulness, being fully present, right from when we wake to when we go to sleep every day.

Still the most popular section of Tea with Mother Nature and we are faced with a dilemma every month. It’s so hard to choose just one!

So I cheated and chose two!

Gauri Sirur’s writing is always a pleasure to read, both for turn of phrase and content. I thoroughly enjoyed Five Reasons Why Plants Love Guzzling Rainwater.

Then four days ago, it rained. And I stepped out to look at my freshly-washed garden. My plants looked perkier and greener after a drink of rainwater.
Or was that wishful thinking?

Shell Parsons took us on a tour of her garden with Self-seeded Beauties which are quite enchanting.

Stepping back and letting nature do its thing has allowed the miracle of life to create some gorgeous mini-scapes around my garden. Let me take you on a tour…

John Brantingham’s piece in this section generated some lively discussion between my silent partner and me. The Idea of Quiet Quitting is focused on human nature and if you haven’t read it, you should!

What stuck with me about this wasn’t that people were doing this, but the way that it was reported.

Two more writers joined us for tea this month! The first was Sharing Words. Read it here.

Susie Kearley was the next to show up with this surprising piece.

WRITING PROMPT — ABOUT YOU!

It’s time to switch things up on the publication and what better way than by meeting the people who walk with us through the pages?

This prompt has three parts:

  1. Introduce yourself
  2. Link or shout-out your favourite TWMN story written by you
  3. Include a graphic with a teacup

Optional fourth part:

4. Link or shout-out your favourite TWMN story written by someone else

This prompt has its own tab so that anyone visiting the publication can get to know the amazing writers that are helping bring nature to readers!

We’re seeking submissions for all these sections. If you have an idea, let us know!

We don’t care if it’s fiction, fact or something in between!

Thanks for reading this newsletter. Please give feedback!
