Talent at the Cypher Agora
The world’s economy is undergoing an enormous transformation.
Technology has brought us to a point where stranded assets (whether it is a car, or compute power or a person’s time and skills) can be liquified into the economy and flow among givers and takers, with near laminar capital diffusion.
We live now at a liminal, technological gloaming. Where now things are fixed and stranded, they will become mobile and move with disorienting velocity: money, skill, techne diffusion, capital formation, creative constructive and destructive interfering innovation.
If you have taken an Uber or AirBnB, or given computational power to blockchain or to the mother of mechanical turks, SETI, you have experienced something novel in the world’s economy. What before was stranded and locked now has the possibility to flow and participate in capital and knowledge (techne) movement and formation. In a way, you are witnessing the latent power of a person or an asset sublimate and move inside the world’s economy with centrifugal velocity.
It used to be a car could sit parked for 98% of its existence, and a person who had no fixed job could feel helpless and depressed trying to find a job, watching TV and blindly sending out resumes, spiraling deeper into hopelessness. Today, that person can take the stranded asset and their time and convert it into capital, and the counterparty paying would value the service enough to create a completely new industry that was not viable before. Even the popular electric scooters now have amazed customers with their ease of use and given enterprising people a chance to collect the scooters at night and charge them for $5 a pop. Today, while walking down a sidewalk in my neighborhood, I came upon an old beat up van parked with some jerry-rigged (naively, touchingly enthusiastic Rube Goldberg) solar panels deftly arrayed worshipping the sun to pump a few electrons. The van door was slid wide open, and what was in there but two teenagers, with laptop, chargers, and a flock of Bird Scooters being charged. The enterprising duo had partnered and had created probably the first mobile, solar charging station for scooters. Their pluck, in buying the old beat up van and figuring out the storage system, with DC to AC inverters and using the laptop to track the location of the next flock of birds needing to be charged, and simply driving there, was astonishing.
Granted, it is not the kind of “career” people traditionally dreamed of, where one would accumulate $200K of college loans created by a vast debt-enabler machinery to indenture very young people, a thing in modern times akin to a plantation or company store pushing young lives though a debt mill. But these modest jobs are better than the alternative of doing absolutely nothing. A small ladder may get you to a humble piece of heaven, but staring at planks of wood and expecting them to self assemble into a ladder and erect themselves upward is induced helplessness. Life’s work, however humble, is life’s dignity. In the slow doing of small things comes the larger done of sophrosyne.
What we are witnessing today is the liquefaction of talent, time and asset.
Such an advent is imminent in blockchain, in KryptoArbeito. We are seeing people gather around a project and build it out, from sheer volition and dint of pride and craft. But blockchain is in its infrastructure-build stage. There is vast work to be done in building the applications that will tenant on the chains. Aside from currency, no one has created the economic killer applications for blockchain, things that will penetrate industrial processes, capital markets, logistics, healthcare, the IoT data-fluent-economy of autonomous mobility and proxy AI agents to come.
As well, there is a vast pool of people out there who have the stranded talent to build applications on this blockchain infrastructure. In the same way that Apple and Google were able to create their apps store/platform, blockchain needs a nexus of talent and tools to begin to build, share, originate, collaborate and create capital engines, KryptoKapitalMacht. In the same way Uber and AirBnB were able to liquify stranded assets, there needs to be a platform on blockchain which can cross this liminal, technological gloaming and federate all blockchains, transparently. In this season, contrapuntal between past and future, there must be a meeting of talent.
OrchestrumOS aims to build a platform of tools (such as decentralized application templates and libraries, a project hub for collaboration and service request and offering, and audit and testing suites, reputation scoring, etc) that allows anyone to build integrated, interoperable decentralized applications (iidApps) that live on multiple chains simultaneously. OrchestrumOS will allow builders, makers and developers to take up offers for use case solutions for a price. Every time an application is built on OrchestrumOS, at the discretion of the maker to archive it for a future revenue flow, it may go into the library as a template, for the next maker to take and extend, and thus create an avalanche of revenue flow. Every time an application is used, its data and service may bring the builder(s) and the OrchestrumOS Community joint benefits. Every time someone in industry needs a solution, they can post and negotiate the project requirements and engage offers to build and collaborate.
“Adoption” in blockchain is the giant elephant people whisper about; people can smell the creature but dare not point to it. For as many years as this technology has existed, it has penetrated industry and business processes with cosmetic depth. We must ask seriously, and answer seriously, about why adoption has been so un-serious. Blockchain is a solution ardently looking for problem lovers, a thing boastful about its capabilities of trust, immutability and resilience to singular control and censorship. Yet, it languishes in narcisistic self regard, while the outside world looks on with doubt and horror. We trade tokens like children playing house; but, what large economic problem, other than hot money, have we solved?
Ask your mom to use blockchain. See what happens. Make sure she understands “gas cost” and generating keys and hiding the keys from crypto-buccaneers. And then have your dad make sure she waits for N confirmations before the pizza is sent to your dorm.
OrchestrumOS aims to accelerate adoption by creating a platform for both users and makers that is the blockchain equivalent of building and using applications by plug and play. This will essentially enable a kind of Uber, AirBnB, Apple and Android PLATFORM for a vast pool of talent to meet each other and exchange value in a Cypher Agora across all blockchains.
In blockchain, we have something more ephemeral than a car or house or phone. Here we have pure talent proffering pure services, with a global, distributed blockchain as the physical enablement. Talent, assets and time will no longer be stranded but will vault over all kinds of boundaries and social tessellations — of sovereignty, of origin, of wealth. No matter where you live in the world, or how modest your origins, you will be able to build that ladder, and that ladder will allow not just you, but others to climb higher and stake a humble piece of heaven.
In this new Cypher Republic, global citizens will meet in OrchestrumOS’s Cypher Agora and trade value for value as people have done for millennia in caravanserai. The perfection of value for value through this Universal Analytic Engine will be both kismet and code.
