I’d like to think of myself as an out-of-the-box thinker. Truth is, I’m not. I’m a cautious optimist and a doer, and a good one at that, but I experience great difficulty in thinking ahead for more than 6 months. Good thing, the world has people like Norbert Frischauf and Marco Attisani. Great minds who come up with amazing things.

Water + electricity + WiFi

Watly is a solar-powered machine designed to purify water from any contamination. The machine also creates an off-grid WiFi network and it’s left-over energy can be used to charge other devices. Founded by Italian inventor Marco Attisani in 2013, the company tested its first prototype in Ghana last year.

Solar energy from space

Norbert Frischauf is an accomplished (space) engineer who has worked for CERN and ESA. He spoke with us during the Border Sessions Festival and explained his plans — and the hurdles he has to take — to collect solar energy in space and sent it to Earth. We can really recommend this interview!

EVENT | SXSW
Meet the SXSW award winners

The annual South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, provides the perfect opportunity to learn about new innovative companies and their crazy / brilliant / breathtaking / no-longer-scifi ideas and products. There are many opportunities to meet the startups of the future; spot them for example in the SXSW Accelerator Pitch Event or during the Interactive Innovation Awards Ceremony. In this blog we present some of the most fascinating winners and promises of 2017.

Why not have your remains freeze-dried..?

Can’t decide whether you want to be buried or cremated? Well, there’s also the option of ‘promession’. It’s an eco-friendly burial method which freeze-dries your remains. You have to see it, to believe it.

Add your own videos and maybe they will feature in the next TIS Weekly. Questions? Remarks? Ideas? hello@tis.tv is the address! From TIS with love, Simone de Bruin.
