Australian Democrats
The original third party in Australian politics, back from the dead after being deregistered back in 2016 due to a lack of members. Famous for being the ones who originally wanted to “keep the bastards honest” (which has been stolen by every single other minor party), they were what the Greens are now, holding up to 9 seats, and the balance of power, in the Senate during their peak.
There is a bit of infighting at the moment however, with the Queensland Democrats claiming they are in fact the true Australian Democrats and this party is just an imposter, which is Inferno material to me
Policy
There’s nothing super controversial here. There’s some policy on the economy. There’s some policy on the regions. They somewhat care about education and the environment. And there’s a bunch more. It’s relatively centrist, with maybe a slight left bent.
It’s all just pretty moderate and doesn’t scream crazy, which is a refreshing change compared to a lot of the other parties.
