Republican Party of Australia
No, this isn’t the Australian version of the pile of flaming trash that are currently attempting to run the US. These guys are big supporters of this:
However, and this may actually come as a bit of a surprise, this party is not affiliated with the Australian Republic Movement, the organisation headed up by Peter FitzSimons (aka bandanna guy). And to be honest, when you’re not affiliated with the most prominent voice advocating for the main thing you want, it’s probably a bad sign.
The other major problem is that it seems that the last time they updated their website was in 2017, which doesn’t fill me with a large amount of confidence in their ability as a political party.
Policy
Unsurprisingly, their major policy is making Australia a republic. But the rest of the platform is when everything kind of falls apart. They want to reintroduce a tax that we last had in the 1950’s, a parliament with 750 MP’s, no emissions trading scheme and zero net migration, which is more than even what some the anti-immigration parties want.
But also, none of their policy has been updated since 2013 so unclear if they even support any of this policy anymore
