The Australian Mental Health Party

--

A single issue party focusing on the mental health. Of Australians. Who’d have guessed it.

There isn’t much else I can say about the party, mostly because there isn’t much information about them anywhere. The only thing I can find is that their leader, Dr Ben Mullings, is actually a psychologist, which probably makes him pretty qualified to talk about mental health.

And any party that uses people who know what they’re talking about to drive their policy making is probably going to be tolerable.

Policy

The majority of their more detailed policy is focused on mental health, and healthcare in general. They want better access to psychological care, an expansion of Medicare, a greater focus on harm minimisation rather than punishing drug use, as well as some policy on Aboriginal mental health which is pretty significant problem.

They also have some vague policy on creating a ‘smarter economy’ and on education, but lets be real that’s not why you’ll vote for this party at all.

Vote for them if

You like it when experts have a say on policy.
