This week, a Cubs fan made history, Olympians ran into their first Rio struggle, and we introduced you to a #girlboss of the golf world. Also, a Washington Redskins player brought puppies to practice. Catch up on the best, worst, weirdest sports news below (and don’t forget to sign up for The Relish newsletter now to get it delivered fresh to your inbox).

Some Good Sports News

Michael Jordan breaks his career-long cone of silence, speaking out on shootings of African-Americans.

Carmelo Anthony earns continued props after holding a town town hall on violence with Team USA, police and youth.

Annie Apple (Giants rookie Eli’s mom) sent her son (her, “lil guy” “#MyLilGiant”) off to his very first NFL training camp this week with a slew of sweet tweets and #TBT pictures. ❤ ❤ ❤

Also? The Ice Bucket Challenge (started by former baseball player Pete Frates) actually worked.

Ugh. Some Bad Sports News

We had to say farewell to Roger Federer, who’s out the rest of the season (and the Olympics) with a knee injury.

Aaron Rodgers finally spoke out (sort of) about his bro on The Bachelorette. But that’s not even the biggest problem he’s dealing with right now

Chris Sale apologizes (sort of) for Jerseygate.

NHL Commish Gary Bettman still refuses to acknowledge a link between concussions sustained in hockey and CTE.

Some Ridiculous…ly Awesome News in Sports

omg omg omg omg omg

Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland brought his puppies to camp.

Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos might miss a few preseason games because his magic act made the “America’s Got Talent” semifinals.

If a Detroit Tiger suggests a game of rock, paper, scissors, tell him you’re more of a thumb-war gal.

And finally, you should know that this weird, wanna-be tough poster is the talk of the NFL right now. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is such a good guy, we hate to even make fun of this (and this poster is being sold to benefit his foundation), but we don’t even know where to begin:

Um, here is the whole poster for your viewing pleasure! Armed and Dangeruss, indeed!

Thanks for reading, watching and cheering along with us this week!
