1) Writing long paragraphs.
Long, chunky paragraphs turn your readers away, especially on a mobile device.
Solution: Write one-sentence paragraphs.

2) Using storytelling to talk about yourself.
Stories to talk about yourself don’t work.
Solution: Ask yourself, “What is in it for my reader?” Begin your email there.

3) Too much time to get to the point.
Solution: Use the battlefield or “In Media Res” technique. Put your reader in the middle of the action.

4) Being apologetic.
Avoid the apologetic tone.
Solution: Your mindset should be “This email is important. You should read it.”

5) Not adding value.
Don’t send an email that doesn’t provide value to your reader.
Solution: Before sending it, ask yourself, “Am I providing value?”

6) Being all over the place.
Don’t try to cover too many points.
Solution: Follow the Rule of One (one goal, one call to action, one idea)
