This band’s power and thrash foundation makes them unique from all the other acts from China and Taiwan.

Background Info (Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives):
Country of origin: China
Location: Tai’an, Shandong Province (early); Beijing (later)
Status: Active
Formed in: 2005
Genre: Heavy/Folk Metal
Themes: Ancient Chinese History
Current label: Modern Sky
Years active: 2005-present

Unlike the other Chinese acts mentioned so far, which are mostly built on melodic death/black metal, groove or doom metal, Dream Spirit readily stands out because of their sound — an epic combination of elating tempos, heavy riffs, masterfully melded with traditional melodies and actual playing from indigenous instruments such as the pipa, erhu, dizi, and guzheng.

The band also goes an extra mile in flaunting Han identity by writing about Chinese history and culture.
