My First Month at @Trendyol : A Journey of Joining the ‘One Dream, One Team’ Spirit!

Embarking on a Journey with Trendyol: A Month of Exploration and Growth

From the moment I stepped into the world of Trendyol, I felt like I was diving into a sea of excitement and exploration. The entire journey, from the interview process to #myfirstmonth , has been nothing short of an adventure that I am thrilled to be a part of.

Trendyol, known for its agile and fast-paced environment, had been a captivating prospect for me, especially coming from a different culture. As I reflect on my first month as a member of the #Trendyolteam , it feels like I’ve been here much longer due to the wealth of learning and exhilarating experiences I’ve encountered.

Before Joining Trendyol: Navigating Pre-boarding

Trendyol’s pre-boarding process provided a seamless introduction to the company’s ethos, culture, and way of working before officially starting my role. The pre-boarding tool allowed me to easily navigate and complete the necessary tasks, including reading recommendations, watching videos, and attending meetings that accelerated my onboarding. An online meeting with my leader, buddy, and team warmly welcomed me and efficiently guided me through the pre-boarding process.

#MyFirstDay : Warm Welcome and Team Unity

My first day at Trendyol felt like a reunion with a long-lost friend. Despite the #remotework setup, my buddy, leader, and team members gathered at the Maslak Campus to make me feel at home. The genuine warmth and humility that characterize the Trendyol culture instantly made me feel like I had been a part of the team for years.

My team graciously provided me with essential information about my role and the team’s objectives. Right from day one, I gained a clear understanding of our team’s goals, and every team member was approachable and eager to address any questions I had. After seven years in a different company I had a WOW experience.

First Week: Fostering One Dream, One Team Spirit

As my first week concluded, I was truly impressed by the strength of our team spirit. This unity effortlessly facilitated my mastery of the new tools, establishment of connections with fellow teammates, and the absorption of information like a sponge. Throughout the week, engaging in insightful 1–1 sessions with each team member not only deepened my understanding but also laid the foundation for forging valuable relationships. This firsthand experience reaffirmed that Trendyol’s commitment to learning from one another thrives exceptionally well. It was indeed a week filled with excitement and continuous learning.

We also had the opportunity to meet at the Campus Office for Culture Day as newcomers. This event was thoughtfully designed to immerse us in Trendyol’s vibrant culture. The agenda was meticulously crafted to ensure a comprehensive understanding. Throughout the day, we engaged in culture-building activities, explored the company’s introduction, strategy, and story, delving deep into the heart of Trendyol’s vision, culture, and passion. Moreover, we gained insights into the 5C communication principles, which serve as a foundation to foster clear and effective communication among the team members. These principles empower us to connect and collaborate seamlessly.

After a dozen tutorial sessions we had the opportunity to learn while having fun through the cultural taboo and Gsheet quiz games prepared by the Trendyol team. These engaging activities took our experience and learning journey to the next level.

Second Week: Unveiling the Power of Data-Driven Insights

My second week highlighted the company’s data-driven approach. Access to crucial data for my projects was just a click away, a testament to Trendyol’s commitment to making informed decisions. We don’t believe in hierarchy, we trust data and decision making tools. It felt like I could bring my ideas to the table from day one.

Third Week: Embracing the Pursuit of Excellence

During my third week, I fully grasped the team’s ethos of “Embrace Striving to be Better Every Day.” Immediate feedback fostered personal growth, while retrospectives allowed us to learn from shared mistakes.

The Trendyol team believes in the power of telling the truth sincerely from day one! The book Radical Candor, written by Kim Scott, expresses our mindset as Trendyol. It is perfect for teams that understand and apply the basic philosophy of feedback culture to communicate more sincerely and openly. The logic is simple, as the chart demonstrates, but things that seem simple and easy are often difficult in practice, particularly in the business world where there are plenty of parameters. It was again an AHA moment for me 🙂

You can access a wealth of resources on the Trendyol Learning platform to familiarize yourself with various team methodologies. Trendyol Learning serves as a valuable collection of online materials that contribute to continuous growth and learning. Additionally, a comprehensive two-day onboarding training, packed with insightful content, provided us with a deep dive into the company’s culture, values, and operational strategies. Through hands-on KPI exercises, our teamwork skills were honed.

A Month in My Trendyol Shoes: An Enlightening Journey

Fortunately, Trendyol’s comprehensive #OnboardingProgram guided me through this transformative journey. This program is meticulously designed to immerse new joiners in Trendyol’s values, culture, and team dynamics. If you’re soon to be part of the team, brace yourself for a similar voyage.

Beyond the onboarding and development initiatives, I had the privilege of deepening my understanding of job onboarding, learning about strategies and goals, and engaging in personalized 1–1 sessions with the HR Function.
