Unlocking Success through Collaboration: The Power of Teamwork at Trendyol

In today’s fast-paced and constantly changing business environment, collaboration and teamwork have become more important than ever before. At Trendyol, we understand the value of working together and believe it is crucial in achieving our goals to create a positive impact on our ecosystem.

As part of my onboarding process, I spoke with people in different teams and locations within Trendyol, and discovering how they all came to share a passion for working together towards a common goal was fascinating. Join us as we explore the significance of teamwork and collaboration in driving the success of Trendyol.

Building and cultivating strong relationships

During my conversation with Bailey Boergesson, who is currently located in Luxembourg and part of our International Fashion team at Trendyol, I gained an insight into the company’s unique culture, which from her perspective fosters productivity, result orientation and agility.

According to Bailey, teamwork is at the heart of Trendyol’s culture, and it’s what drives the company’s success, and as the company expands globally, teams strive to facilitate efficiency and collaboration across different time zones and cultures by leveraging technology. “At Trendyol, teams have found innovative ways to overcome any obstacles that may arise by utilizing user-friendly tools such as Slack and G-Sheets to facilitate real-time communication, collaboration, and efficient project delivery”, she added.

Yet, Trendyol’s success is not solely attributed to technology but to the exceptional individuals behind it who share a genuine desire to support each other’s growth and progress. She confirms that this collaborative spirit lies at the heart of Trendyol’s culture and is instrumental in driving the company’s continued success.

The welcoming, empathetic and supportive culture at Trendyol reflects the mutual respect and care that our team has for one another. “We believe in providing regular feedback to our team members so that they can improve and advance themselves. Bailey highlighted that collaboration is at the core of Trendyol culture. “There’s no room for individualism in Trendyol, nor in our success,” she remarked. “We take bold decisions and tackle difficult challenges together, sometimes learning from failures and other times surpassing expectations by evolving in unexpected ways. But we always move forward together, inspiring and pushing each other towards new heights.”

Focus on accomplishments rather than personal egos

Another insightful chat I had was with Maryse Oranje, member of our International Legal Team, based in Amsterdam. We talked about her experience of being part of the Trendyol team and what makes it an inspiring and fulfilling place to work.

Collaboration is an essential value at Trendyol and is seen as a fundamental element of our culture and continued success. Maryse underscored this by stating, “Teamwork is truly the cornerstone of our culture. We believe that if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together. It’s not just a mere phrase but a way of life at Trendyol.”

Transparency, effective communication, constructive feedback and a focus on common goals were all emphasized as crucial components of the Trendyol culture. Maryse explained that “When we give each other feedback, whether it’s positive or constructive, we’re essentially supporting one another and helping each other improve.” Furthermore, “This approach fosters a safe environment where colleagues have each other’s backs and can thrive together,” she concluded.

Having personally experienced the advantages of Trendyol’s collaborative and supportive atmosphere, Maryse highly recommended Trendyol to anyone considering joining the team: “Trendyol is a fantastic place to work if you’re looking for a workplace that values teamwork, humility, and growth!”

Work together towards a common goal

During my conversation with Matu Bilia, part of our Localization team in Berlin, I again noticed how much teamwork is emphasized across teams in Trendyol. “It’s not just a buzzword here, it’s a fundamental part of our DNA”, says Matu. She continued by highlighting that collaboration is the key to success at Trendyol: “We’re all accountable for the outcomes of our work, and we take responsibility for our mistakes. But instead of pointing fingers or placing blame, we work together to find solutions and improve”, she explained. Matu noted that accountability and collaboration are crucial components of any successful company, and she is pleased to see how Trendyol fosters this approach throughout the organization.

Matu clarified that maintaining clear communication and shared understanding among team members is highly valued at Trendyol. “We know what’s expected of us and we rely on each other to deliver quality work and meet our commitments. We’re willing to compromise and focused on finding solutions that benefit the team”, she added. This indeed helps to foster a safe and healthy working environment that motivates the team to work towards shared objectives.

It’s worth mentioning that Matu’s enthusiasm for her work at Trendyol was truly inspiring during our conversation! She emphasized how every team at Trendyol is adaptable and flexible, ready to adjust their approach and open to new ways of thinking and inspiration. “We understand that things don’t always go according to plan. But we’re open to new ideas and perspectives, always focused on iteration culture”, she explained. This dedication to teamwork and continuous improvement is clearly a core value of the company, reflected in the daily actions of its teams.

Teamwork truly makes the dream work

I had the opportunity to also speak with Shimeng Yang, a member of our People and Culture team based in Luxembourg, who also believes that teamwork is at the core of Trendyol’s culture. According to her, when she first joined the company, she was impressed by the passion and skills of her colleagues and their willingness to work together and offer mutual support. “Whether it’s brainstorming new ideas or solving complex problems, our teams collaborate towards a common goal of providing excellent service to our customers,” she said.

When questioned about how individual objectives align with the team-oriented culture, Shimeng responded that at Trendyol, teams do not solely concentrate on individual objectives. Instead, they always consider the broader perspective and strive to attain team goals. “Our success is based on everyone’s contributions, and we all celebrate our accomplishments. That’s why our teamwork is so effective: we assist each other in succeeding and developing,” Shimeng said.

She also proudly stated that at Trendyol, the power of teamwork is recognized and acknowledged, which is why the company has been able to go that far. “That’s why we’re proud to say that at Trendyol, teamwork truly makes the dream work!”, she concluded.

Conclusion

As I sat down with my colleagues to chat about their experiences at Trendyol, I wasn’t quite sure how it would turn out. But as they began to share their stories, I found myself captivated by the passion and enthusiasm they had for their work and their team.

One by one, they spoke about the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving success. But it wasn’t just Trendyol’s focus on personal and professional development that impressed me — it was the genuine care and support that each colleague had for one another. As I listened to their stories, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by the diverse perspectives and experiences they brought to the table. It was clear that Trendyol isn’t just a company but a community of individuals who are passionate about their work and each other. And that, to me, is what sets Trendyol apart from the rest.
