What words should you learn the first?

Words are useful, no kidding… Many of them. But when learning a new language, you will find yourself thinking:

“What are the most useful words I should learn?”

It is obvious that some words will come really handy in many situations and some…

…some words are more like pleasure that allow you to say sophisticated ideas. Take for example the word “abundance”. You can live your whole (even English) life without the real need to use it.

We asked people in Facebook groups Learn Polish and Learn Czech in Prague and Brno for their opinion.

The most useful words can somehow differ from language to language.

These Facebook groups were our sample to approve of our hypothesis when creating the ultimate useful list of words and phrases.

“What were the most useful words you learned recently?”

Maybe you know the feeling - the surprise when you think people will reply in some way and they end up replying quite different, often more awesome stuff.

That’s why everyone claims that every good marketer, project coordinator or comic should know its audience.

Anyway, every language seemed to have some similar answers but also some specialties you wouldn’t find in any other language.

For the purpose of this article, we picked our favorite responses from every language we asked. The real fun starts when you try to imagine the situation in what it is useful to say exactly these words:

“What were the most useful Polish words you learned recently?”

Czuje się jak młody bóg (I feel like a young god)

“What were the most useful Czech words you learned recently?”

Nemám nic, ale mám dost (I have nothing, but it is enough)

Read the complete lists for each language here:

Most useful Polish words

Most useful Czech words

These answers inspired us to create Word list “Travel” with (really) the most useful words not only for Polish, Czech, English, German and Czech but also for French, Spanish, Slovak, and Vietnamese. Search for it in the app.

And if you want to make learning language easier, check how to use Google Translate and a Flashcard app.

Have you ever felt frustrated with sth so much that you would rather create it on your own? That’s the story of Flashcard maker Vocabulary Miner. Read more on our blog.
