Dear Wanchain Community,
We want to thank our wonderful community for all the support we have received in 2017. We want to give our community a little summary of what Wanchain has worked on and achieved since 2016.
Our Journey
In June 2016, theoretical research and POC (Proof of Concept) started for cross-chain transaction and privacy protection.
Theoretical proof for token privacy protection of smart contracts based on one-time addresses and ring signatures was completed in 2016, and the POC was completed at the beginning of 2017.
At the beginning of 2017, we completed the design of the cross-chain transaction mechanism and the cryptographic technology.
In 2017 the commercial whitepaper, whitepaper and yellow whitepaper were written and the Wanchain website released.
Tokensale
We opened up the tokensale registration to participants on the 15th of September. We received a total of 11,812 applications to participate in the tokensale.
Gold whitelist applicants: 7,779
Silver whitelist applicants: 3,224
Unapproved applicants: 809
We ran a KYC and AML check for all our tokensale applicants. Our tokensale started on October 3rd 2017 and ended on October 4th 2017. This is how we structured the tokensale:
Gold Whitelist
Individual cap for Gold: 6.8 ETH
Once the ICO began on October 3rd you had 24 hours to contribute.
After 24 hours, as Gold, you were able to contribute in the Silver phase until all tokens were sold.
Silver Whitelist
After the first 24 hours had passed, Silver whitelised participants were able to contribute along with Gold until all tokens were sold.
There was a 65ETH limit per transaction (and gwei limit) in the silver phase and over 20,000 ETH worth of tokens reserved (in addition to the unsold amount in the Gold phase).
Tokenholders
Upon tokensale completion, there were 6,547 WAN Token Holders.
Alpha Testnet
In October we invited community programmers with a minimum of 2 years experience to come test out the Wanchain Alpha. We received a total of 140 applications.
- Ninety three (93) testers were invited. Sixty-eight (68) joined our “Community Devs” Discord channel.
- Fourteen (14) testers reported bugs and provided suggestions by email. Sixteen (16) suspected bugs were reported. There were two pull requests on github.

Conferences and events
Our team was heavily engaged in attending and speaking at different events and conferences in 2017.
In October and November Jack Lu (Founder of Wanchain) and Dustin Byington (President of Wanchain) attended and spoke at several events. Some of these were:
- Texas Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs (14th October)
- Texas Bitcoin Conference (28th and 29th of October)
- Wanchain Lunch and Presentation at Devcon3. Cancun, Mexico (3rd of November)
- Consensus Invest 2017. New York, USA (28th of November) — we announced the establishment of the Blockchain Interoperability Alliance (Wanchain-ICON-AION). The announcement generated a spike in interest from across the blockchain community, partners and prospects.

Community
Our Community has grown much in 2017. We are now proud to be one of the biggest and most vibrant communities in the crypto space.
As previosuly mentioned in our updates, we have hired over 12 new community managers to help support and spread awareness of Wanchain in their respective regions as well as help users online with general and technical questions. We have even created a Bot in our Telegram Chat Group to help with some of the FAQs.

Beta Release
On the 19th of December, Wanchain launched the Beta Platform. Our community has been very active testing out the different functions of the Beta.
Wanchain’s Beta Testnet is still live and accessible to anyone wanting to test the platform (you can view the guide here on how to get started).
We encourage everyone to participate and provide feedback / ask questions / report bugs, in our community server on Discord (https://discord.gg/3DpeV6W), under the “#beta_testnet” channel.
Moving Forward
2018 is a new beginning for many projects but it also marks the release of the Wanchain mainnet (and not only!)— scheduled for January.
