Some hours on, you spy the village nestled in the valley ahead. You hope the locals can provide further help with finding Impachik the demon.

“Let’s hurry,” says Angelika. “I’m hungry.”

“Well, you dumped the food!”

“You told me to lose the weight!”

“Uhh…”

You have no response. It’s been a long, weary walk, and you’re feeling sorry for yourself by the time you arrive at the houses.

A woman sits on a stoop, smoking a cigar. “Hello stranger,” she says, calm and friendly.

“Anywhere we can buy food?” you ask. “Get some directions?”

She raises a thumb. “Tanko’s tavern.”

You sit in the tavern, and are soon surrounded by locals. All they do is stand and look at you. You try to make conversation, but they stare unblinking in total silence.
