What I learned from a dinner gathering.
I first met Arden in an English classroom that He was my English teacher seven years ago (Wow! That long ago already?) Since then, we have become friends and stayed connected with each other. I have always admired Arden for his courage and vitality.
Arden told me that he was a training and development specialist in the Philippines but moved to Taiwan for his parents with poor Mandarin skills. He was trying to figure out new career possibility. Last month, I saw Arden posted on Facebook that he got onboard to a new company as technical writer (congrats to Arden!) It reminded me that we had not catch up for years since I moved to Shanghai for work. Now that we both are in Taipei starting new careers, it would be inspiring to meet up and exchange our stories. So we met and here are some thoughts to share that we talked about what happened and how we faced challenges in lives.
Ⅰ. Be positive.
We cannot foresee what will happen, but we can believe that it will turn out to be fine. Be positive always. No single positive person would never ever feel down, but they choose to stay positive.
Ⅱ. Try new things and make life no regrets.
Step out of comfort zone and try things that amaze us. I like what Arden says about this: try new things and take photos, when he grows old, he would have a lot of photos to remember what interesting life he has had.
Ⅲ. Believe in self
Me and Arden both had moments that we had low confidence on self, wondering what we can do. It is hard not to have doubt when facing challenges. We learn to tell ourselves to believe in self and accept what is suitable for self.
