Balloon is a new social media app launched from Greenland. The app has caught swift early popularity in its home region and to fund its growth, Balloon will raise capital via a security token offering.
What is Balloon?
Balloon is a new type of social media, one that revolves not around user profiles, but the many different, segmented topics users discuss. For example, any given person can use social media to discuss political views, a political hobby like yachting, day-to-day experience, and family pictures. Each of these four different types of posts is fed into a balloon dedicated to that type of content.
Any user can segment his/her profile into many different balloons varying from hobbies to opinionated content or personal photos. Users may subscribe to others’ profiles and enjoy all their balloons, or simply choose to subscribe to one of their balloons, which includes the content the subscriber most enjoys.
Rather than other users’ news feed being comprised of all the various social content that people create, feeds will be comprised of balloons, which could focus on specific concepts like political views, yachting, movie review, others’ pictures — any particular content niche. Thus, Balloon does not build news feeds from profiles but content niches, which it collects into balloons.
While your friends may create social content on a dozen niche topics, you may choose to follow the balloon that only covers their posts that are most appealing to you.
