Preface ~ I’m not sure if this title will remain the finished title, but for now I need to get started. This is my journey from job dependence to multiple streams of income from scratch with online businesses. Those businesses range from using established systems like Medium to creating a business blog and profitable online business courses.

You are welcome to come along for the ride! I look forward to passengers on the income express and commentators as well. Be part of the journey. As Forest Gump noted during his run across the country as he attracted and inspired others “Well. I got company.”

So, here it goes:

Introduction

It started 6 months ago, I wanted to figure out how to increase my income but I wanted to do it within certain parameters:

  1. I wanted to make money without spending time working for ‘per hour’ pay. Knowing that time is freedom, I didn’t want to simply get another job. I had one, it paid the bills and was at night, which left my days open for creative time. This time I wanted to spend searching for money making ideas that would eventually replace my current job and create a bump in yearly pay. Actually more than a bump, but double it.
  2. I wanted to create multiple streams of income. With the volatility of the job market these days, it makes sense to get income from various places. Many money making gurus claim their success came from multiple streams of income. Plus the security of having money coming in if one source dries up is comforting. I have watched many people with one 9 to 5 stress when they were fired, downsized or quit.
  3. I wanted to be 100% mobile. I have family in many cities and also have a fondness for the beach. One of my goals is to rent a place on the beach and work there for as long as I wish, then pick up and find a cabin in the mountains and stay there until I decided to come home.
  4. I have a strong background in computers, web design and online course creation, this seemed like a possible avenue since so many platforms offer amazing opportunities to reach, teach and of course, make a living.

It was after I came up with these parameters, I started to look into what online platforms, businesses, and projects would fit the criteria above and but they also had to fulfill one more piece of very important criteria.

Passion.

Passion was the most important piece of this puzzle. That would be the fuel, the drive to pursue the uphill battle of blazing new territory in one or more new ventures. I knew that for a long or short time these ventures would make no money, no income and would probably require not only a time investment but also a monetary one as well. So I knew I had to double my energy to keep my job, while crafting my new livelihood.
