Seeking Expressions of Interest

I am pleased to announce I am seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to join the NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner’s Advisory Panel for the period 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.

The Advisory Panel will:

· Provide advice to the NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner, including in response to questions or on its own initiative.

· Support efforts by the NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner to engage with people across NSW.

Who we are looking for

We seek Advisory Panel members who reflect the incredible diversity of our NSW community. I welcome expressions of interest from people with diverse professional backgrounds and personal experiences.

This includes:

· People with lived experience of modern slavery

· People living in regional and rural NSW

· People from culturally and linguistically diverse communities

· People of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander origin

· People from LGBTQI+ communities

· People with disabilities

· Young people

· People with professional experience in service provision, non-government organisations, business, investment, survivor engagement, research, industrial relations, multicultural organisations, or government.

To contribute to the work of the Advisory Panel, we would like members to have:

· Good communication skills

· Capacity to contribute to meetings and small group discussions

· An appreciation of the diversity of people with lived experience of modern slavery

· An understanding of Advisory Panel decision-making processes

· Capacity to analyse and make sound judgements on modern slavery issues.

I am committed to empowering people with lived experience to have a voice and influence in our work and help shape the programs and policies that affect you. My team is ready to provide support to ensure that members with lived experience are well prepared and can participate safely in the Advisory Panel.
