Week 4 — About resume building, internships & interview tips

Heading towards the end of the program we had our Week 4 call on Resume building, projects, and Internships.
Our mentor gave us some really nice Resume Building advice some of which are mentioned below :

  1. Update internship experience.
  2. Mention your projects.
  3. Write about leadership experiences, hackathons, and volunteer experiences with certifications if any.
  4. Demonstrate your worth with numbers.
  5. Use relevant action words - Stick to shorter, attention-grabbing keyword phrases.
Some keywords to consider: published, impacted, participated, chaired, directed, networked, joined, etc.
  6. Keep your resume limited to 1 Page.

We were told to keep working on some minor projects that can be later mentioned in the resume. And keep your Github updated with all the work you do.
She also suggested doing some internships during vacations to get some experience that would later add up to our resume. And gave us a task that was to solve at least two interview questions on any platform to get us prepared for the placement interview.

The platforms which can help in the preparation of interviews a listed below:

  1. Geek for Geeks — All the material is provided well bifurcated according to the topics.

2. Leetcode - LeetCode is a popular online judge that provides a list of 190+ challenges that can help you prepare for technical job interviews

3. HackerEarth- By participating in mock placement challenges one can practice programming. They provide tutorials too.

This week was full of crucial advice for placement preparations. Eagerly looking towards Week 5.
