Our plan was ambitious yet grounded: to establish an organic farm specializing in vermicompost production for smaller farms. While our traveler friend brought agricultural insights, the rest of us focused on technology, operations, and delivery. Visiting vermicompost farms in Haryana, we finalized a vendor for shipping vermicompost to Guwahati. Excitement soared as we received our first bulk order, aligning with the high demand in agricultural regions.
However, challenges emerged swiftly. Exporting substantial amounts of vermicompost posed operational hurdles we had not anticipated. Overcoming initial setbacks, we tackled the logistics, albeit with lessons learned along the way.
The real trial began with managing live worms โ a task that demanded expertise and finesse. Storing and maintaining optimal conditions proved trickier than expected, resulting in significant losses. This, coupled with the financial strain of leased land, highlighted our lack of experience in the intricacies of agricultural production.
