Taking the first step in my writing journey reminds me of my experience in my first job interview.

As an aspiring and new writer on Medium, it’s been life-changing.

Why?

Taking the first big step is a lot harder than I thought.

It made me remember my first job interview. I prepared a lot before the in-person interview. But in the end, I got nervous and kept stuttering.

I did not do well the first time, but I tried again.

Writing is a process, you cannot continue to go on if you don’t love what you are doing.

I didn’t even dream of becoming a writer who writes about my own life and experiences.

But as the years went by, I learned little things about life. Saw, read, and discovered how people talk about themselves. And realized that some benefited and had gone through the same path in life.

Eventually, it came to me that people read others’ personal stories. Which made them relate, learn, and get motivated to do better.

Write, Share, and Motivate Someone

An idea to share and motivate other people came to mind. I remember how I felt pain or what I always read on web novels as ‘excruciating heart pain or piercing heart’, and guess what I did.

I’ve researched ‘how to move on from a heartbreak, how long it will last, is it normal to feel this way?’ and more.

There are a lot of articles and blogs I’ve read. Some are very helpful, while some are written in a just so, so manner.

Have you also encountered or read something in which you can feel the writer’s point of view? Or that it is their personal experience, so when talking about it, there is this emotion? And they want to help?

Well, I admire those authors when I read their genuine thoughts, they can captivate the reader’s heart.

It also urged me to take the first big step in my writing journey.

The First Big Step

As an aspiring writer, taking on the first big step is a life and long journey where one needs the courage to share amateur writing with others.

Writing is a vulnerable moment where I am exposing my thoughts and emotions to the scrutiny of others.

I am an amateur, so how will they judge my words or my rambling? The thought is nerve-wracking. Well, that is why I called it a ‘taking on the big step’ because I knew, I had to face this hurdle head-on.

Then I wrote my first post on Medium. It is where I talked about myself and my doubts about how to continue writing. After I hit publish, I felt a mixture of excitement and uncertainty.

But I got a few claps and a comment. Wow! That felt good. Someone actually read my post!

I always want to see things positively in everything around me. I learned that doing so will lessen my disappointment, stress, and anxiety about how I perceive things.

It is helping me now. To continue improving my writing and conveying my feelings on what I write online.

This is A Life and Long Journey

What is it that you want? What do you love? What is that thing that you don’t need the motivation but you cannot live not doing it?

Have you answered these questions in your mind and got your answer? I have, and for me, it is writing.

Before, I thought I only wrote to pour my thoughts on that piece of paper and hope that my sadness will eventually disappear someday. But it is different now.

I know that this is what I like to do, and I want to improve my writing. And, I am hoping that I can also publish a book soon, maybe a year from now.

A book that will act as a helping tool for others who are experiencing the downside of their lives. Inspire and help them see those beautiful things in life again.

Turn that black-and-white picture to be colorful and vibrant.

So, I will continue writing stories on Medium.

Continuing the Ride

I should keep learning to become an excellent writer and achieve my writing goals. As an aspiring writer taking on the first big step that is a life, and long journey, I am excited to share more stories!

It will be an honor if there are claps, comments, or feedback on my stories. I will be grateful to reply and talk to fellow writers.
