Life’s too short to type it all out. Point, click, conquer!

This article is one of many other volumes for the Spring ’24 Release Notes — The Funny-ish Summary. If you want to jump to a specific Topic please use the links at the bottom of this page.

Lightning App Builder

  • Dynamic forms now supports cross-object fields. Drill down up to two levels. Polymorphic relationships are not supported.
  • Visibility rule filter using the Device can now be set at individual fields level. Previously this was only possible at the whole Field Sections.
  • Use dynamic actions for standard objects on mobile devices.
  • Not a polyglot? Use custom labels to show your users Related List labels in their language.
  • No more guessing games! Dynamic Forms have two new properties: Object Name and field API Name.

Sharing

  • Going for Gold! This feature was available starting in WINTER ’24 and is enforced in SPRING ’24. It’s all about recalculating sharing settings for a star-studded object linked to Accounts. Fans affectionately refer to this object using the three-word code ‘Opp.’ My name is… My name is…Righhhhht answer! Faster Account Sharing Recalculation. Check this article for more information.
  • OWDs calculation got faster. How? When? Who? excited right? You can even monitor the progress of the recalculation phases on the Background Jobs page. Check it out.

Permissions

  • If you try to delete a permission set included in a permission set group that’s assigned to users, you now receive an error. You can only delete a permission set that isn’t assigned to users either directly or through a permission set group. Previously, this action wasn’t blocked, which allowed users to be assigned to empty permission set groups without enabled permissions. That is exactly what the Release notes says. Yes I felt a little bit lazy for this one!
  • Salesforce is spreading joy to all its editions. Permission Set Groups (PSG for close pals) are now available in all editions.
  • Remember that feature called “User Access Policies”? Well, it just got a dose of affection from the product team: You can now reference user picklist fields, groups, and queues in your policies’ user criteria filters. BETA.

General Setup

  • Imagine a world where you can do call out to External Services Asynchronously! Create Apex Clients to handle External Services callbacks. Salesforce will wait for a response from the external system for up to … Wait for it … 1 YEAR!!!!
  • Dynamic forms indicate now Required fields with asterisks. Webforms 101 right?
  • No more wild pixels! Large images inserted into a record page using the rich text area field are now confined to the page width when you view a record in Printable View. Previously they extend beyond the edge of the printed view.

Deployment

  • Thank you for your service! The Ant Migration Tool is retired. The tool will continue to function for future API versions but will not be updated with new functionality and will no more be supported. Farewell, trusty tool! Your legacy lives on in the codes of time.
