Grandparent’s Day Recap

A reward from one of our most challenging sales weeks to date is knowing there are some happy grandparents around the country right now with fresh bouquets in their home.

(Scroll to the bottom for a quick recap of this blog)

With the holiday coming up on September 13th, our team had to be on our A-game last week while coordinating multiple flower deliveries before Sunday. Sending friendly reminders to our customers wasn’t enough, so we decided to have some fun with it.

To everyone who avoided this situation by using Goquets for Grandparent’s Day, we have to add a THANK YOU on top of the one you already received from your Grandma or Grandpa.

Iowa or Iowa State?

In our startup’s home state, it just happened to be rivalry week for the annual game-day matchup of the Iowa State Cyclones vs. the Iowa Hawkeyes.

With a highly divided and passionate fanbase fired up, we decided to place a bouquet for each team in the cafe of the Geonetric Building while prompting people to take a ‘selfie’ with their favorite:

With BlendCard and Goquets gift cards on the line, people uploaded some great pics while competing for bragging rights and the best selfie.

We also highjacked the #CyHawk hashtag a few times as Goquets flowers kept finding their way into Twitter’s newsfeed (check out the feed here).

Congrats to the Swineguard guys for taking 1st place while huddled around a frying pan of bacon. Sure, being over in Eastern Iowa meant the competition may have been a little favored towards the Hawkeyes, however we’ll happily acknowledge one more victory for an Iowa Startup Accelerator Team that’s primed for more.

Next week we’ll be back with highlights from our first 50 days in the cohort and a hint at what’s next to come from Goquets. Until then… never forget!

Overview

At Goquets, we’re working to become the easiest way to order flowers online. Stop wasting time scrolling through galleries only to see the flowers that are delivered look nothing like the photo you spent ages choosing. Tell us the details you actually care about — who it’s for, what the occasion is, and how much you want to spend and we’ll work with a local florist to build a beautiful, one-of-a-kind bouquet.

Stay tuned each week as we continue to talk about our experience going through a 3-month accelerator for Goquets at the Iowa Startup Accelerator in Cedar Rapids.
