Lego Build 92 — Mongoose

Another entry for my Blake’s War AU — the iconic Mongoose is the light ‘Mech choice for the Blakist faction. This was another build that took me forever to get right, mostly because it is weirdly shaped and hard to replicate at this scale. Yet, here it is, no larger than the prior Commando.

During the Star League Era the Mongoose was meant to replace older scout ‘Mechs, especially the famed Locust. However, the advanced sensor and communications suite lend it to become an excellent lance commander for scout units. Thus, the Mongoose failed in its initial goal, while becoming quite successful in another.

However, during the Succession Wars, the slow technological decline led many of these machines to be downgraded to fit the new paradigm. Stripped of their electronics they became little better than other scout ‘Mechs, and rarer that most. The Mongoose gradually vanished from most armies. Except for ComStar, who remained the only faction able to build it.

When the Word of Blake took over Terra and then the Chaos March, it also took over the factories producing this ‘Mech. Knowing that they needed cheap but effective ways to arm themselves and their allies should the Inner Sphere turn on them, the Blakists issued downgraded Mongeese to their allies and their own militia formations. These machines would often be paired with UrbanMechs and armed ConstroMechs when attempting to overcome heavier opposition, especially in the Pesht District.

This is a simple model, reminescent of the likes of the Wasp and the Panther in structure. Uses 36 parts (some a bit rare) and comes in a simple Blakist color scheme (you can use whatever color scheme you want of course).
